1. PERSONAL DETAILS:

2. ASSESSMENT:
Cooperative but information on 8th Div limited because PW was assigned 12 Feb 51. Information seems reliable.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. Chronology:
Volunteered into the 2nd Sqd, 3rd Plat, 8th Co, 3rd Bn, 5th Regt, 2nd Div at NANAM 24 Nov 46. Unit called Security Guard Officer's School (保安幹部學校).
Between Nov 46 to March 50, received infantry training at NANAM. 31 Aug 48, the Security Guard Officer's School became part of the People's Army.
March 50, PW was selected by the Army to be Civilian defense training instructor (咸浦祖國保衛後援會) at the HAMHUNG Fertilizer Plant. Taught military training to the plant workers until August 50.
Aug 50 was placed into a Cadre Unit, 1st Sqd, 1st Plat, HMG Co, 3rd Bn, 375 NKA Unit which was directly attached to the General Hq at SINUIJU, as a Cpl.
Dec 50, there was a plan to organize a Reserve Unit for the I Corps at SARIWON, however, UN forces were advancing so they moved to MANPOJIN. On the way PW was appointed a Jr Lt.
Dec 50 at MANPOJIN, placed into the I Corps, Reserve Regt, 2nd Bn HMG Co, 2nd Plat.
11 Feb 51, while at WONHUNG-NI (源興里) was ordered to be CO of HMG Co, 1st Bn, 1st Regt, 8th Div, which was in SEOUL.
12 Feb 51 became CO of the HMG Co at SEOUL.
While travelling from SINUIJU to place of capture, the following places were passed:

b. Location and Activities Of Units: (as of 14 Feb 51)
The mission of the 1st Regt was to advance to SUWON and sever UN supply lines.
14 Feb 51, heard that the 1st Regt, 1st Bn CP were located at the outskirts of SEOUL.
Reserve Regt was located at WONHUNG-NI 11 Feb 51.

e. Replacements:
10 Feb 51, 470 EM, and, on 11 Feb 51, 10 officers from the I Corps, Reserve Regt, were placed into the 8th Div at SEOUL.

f. Food, Ammo and Other Supplies:
HMG ammo (approx 21,000 rd) were brought in from 8th Div Hq at SEOUL by truck and carts Feb 51.
Troops brought 5 days ration with them when they left SEOUL 12 Feb 51. Food was brought in from SEOUL.

g. Signal:
Telephones were utilized above Battalion level.
Company to Battalion runners.

h. Morale and Battle Effectiveness:
When the HMG Co left SEOUL 12 Feb 51, morale of the men was high, but during the morning of 13 Feb 51, when they were shelled by UN forces, morale became very low.

I. UN PW:
30 Dec 50 saw approximately 50 US PW while travelling at night at NAMCHONJON (BT7346). These soldiers were walking (some were wounded) led by CCF soldiers.

j. Medical:
There was no disease in the HMG Co.
Did not receive any immunization.
There were no frost bite cases in PW Company.

k. Psychological Warfare:
Voluntarily surrendered because he was hungry. Had not seen any UN leaflets.
