1. PERSONAL DETAILS:

2. ASSESSMENT:
Cooperative but lacked information because of his brief military service and because he was not interested in the military.
Although limited, information seems fairly reliable.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. Chronology:
Conscripted into the CCF during June 50 at CHILIN SHENG, FUYUI-HSIEN (吉林省 扶餘縣) and was engaged in construction work at FUYUI HSIEN until Aug 50.
O/a 15 Aug 50, arrived at ANTUNG SHENG, SSUTAO KOU (XE 1337) and was assigned to CCF Independent 106th Div, 506th Regt. The Independent 106th Div engaged in construction and repairing buildings at SSUTAO KOU.
8 Nov 50, Independent 106th Div was redesignated as 109th Div 42nd Army at SSUTAO KOU.
18 Nov 50, 109th Div, arrived at CHIAN (輯安) by train from ANTUNG.
20 Nov 50, Div crossed the YALU River into KOREA from CHIAN. After entering KOREA, marched Southward to 38th Parallel, arriving during Dec 50 without a single engagement.
5 Jan 51, 376th Regt, 109th Div, crossed 38th Parallel and marched to the bank of the HAN River.
20 Jan 51, Regt advanced Southward.
141200 Feb 51, PW plat, which was one of the forward element of the 2nd Bn, 376th Regt, was attacked by UN Forces. PW and one other (wounded) were captured as others fled.

b. Location and Activities of Units:
After crossing 38th Parallel, each plat of 2nd Bn, 376th Regt, moved separately. Each plat was approx 500 m apart. Heard that this was to avoid heavy casualties from artillery fire. Another reason was that a plat advancing separately can disengage and withdraw easily if confronted by a superior force.
Heard that the mission of 2nd Bn, 376th Regt was to defend the area CS 777414. Other units of the 376th Regt were located to the rear (North) of 2nd Bn.
Heard that 38th Army was located 10 km North of 2nd Bn on 14 Feb 51.

Personnel losses were caused chiefly by UN Artillery.
Only few casualties resulted from UN air strikes.

d. Replacements:
O/a 29 Jan 51, 1 officer from each company of the 376th Regt departed for ANTUNG to bring back replacements for their units.

e. Food, Ammo and Other Supplies:
Food was procured locally by each battalion for all units of the battalion. Food was distributed to lower units.
The 2nd Bn, 376th Regt, was never issued ammo after entering KOREA.
