2. ASSESSMENT:
Unintelligent. Reliability - Poor.

3. MARCHES:
a. Marched over trails.
b. Unit moved in single file. Runners and mounted men were used between columns.
c. 10 minutes halt was held for every hour.

4. BIVOUACS:
a. Trench, 7 ft long, 5 ft wide, 4 ft deep, covered with 1 ft thick dirt was made during 0400 to 0600. It was used during daylight hours.
b. No specific camouflage measures were taken in bivouac area.

5. ANTITANK TACTICS:
Japanese-made “BANGALORE TORPEDO” was one of the antitank weapons.

6. TRAINING:
Received 6 months political training.

7. MEDICAL:
a. Typhoid vaccine and tetanus toxoid were administered to all CCF soldiers Sep 50.
b. 10 frostbites and 2 frozen feet cases have occurred in PW unit.
PW was a medical aid man of the 2nd Co, 1st Bn, 348th Regt. Medical training given to medical aid men from Jul 50 to Sep 50 at HAICHENG-HSIEN (海城縣), LIAOSHI-SHENG (遼西省), MANCHURIA. Approx 80 men were trained by two medical officers at 348th Regt Hq, 116th Div.
Lessons were given in pharmacy, first aid and treatment of wounds. PW studied the nature and uses of the following pharmaceutical items:

PW not acquainted with medical terms. 2 Nov 50, the CCF 116th Div was attacked by the US ground forces at UNSAN (雲山), KOREA. In this defensive engagement, the 116th Div suffered heavy casualties in personnel and equipment. The casualty breakdown was as follows:
10% - Slight wound.
20% - Serious wound.
30% - Dead.
No medical aids were given because of the shortage of medicine and medical personnel.
Casualty lists and medicinal consumption lists were prepared at the end of each battle. (See chart 1, sample forms “A” and “B”.)

8. DISCIPLINE:
CCF military discipline was well-maintained in KOREA for the troops well-understood the strict orders given them in CHINA.
Violators of the following regulations were executed under the provisions of CCF military law.
a. To obey and execute orders.
b. Not to molest or destroy private property.
c. To return captured weapons and equipment to the Chinese People’s Republic Government.
d. To treat all civilians courteously.
e. To pay for all purchases at civilian prices.
f. To repay all obligations at once.
g. To compensate for all government or civilian property destroyed.
h. Not to strike or abuse any person.
i. Not to damage any agricultural products.
j. Not to molest women. Any person who committed rape may be killed by his discoverer.
k. Any person involved in any way in the mistreatment and killing of US, ROKA and other UN PW will be executed.

9. RELATIONS WITH KOREANS:
The attitude of Korean civilians toward the Chinese was uncooperative.
Korean civilians were used as road guides by the CCF.
