Apr 44: Moved to SEOUL, KOREA with his family.
Mar 45: Graduated 4 years middle school at SEOUL, KOREA.
May 48: Graduated 3 years SEOUL Commercial College, KOREA.
May 48-15 Aug 50: Engaged by middle school as teacher of geography at IRI (裡里) KOREA.
16 Aug 50: Conscripted into the “Volunteer Corps” at IRI, KOREA.
2 Sep 50: Assigned to volunteer training camp as leader of political section at IRI.
28 Sep 50: Retreated from IRI, KOREA with volunteer training camp.
10 Nov 50: Arrived in vicinity of YANGGU (楊口), KOREA via KUMSAN (錦山), YONGDONG (永同), SANGJU (尙州) MUNGYONG (聞慶), P’UNGGI (豊基), YONGWOL (寧越), P’YONGCH’ANG (平昌), KANGGNUNG (江陵) and YANGYANG (襄陽), KOREA.
15 Nov 50: Assigned to NKA 10th Div, political section.
20 Dec 50: NKA 10th Div moved to HWACH’ON (樺川), KOREA and Div regrouped with strength of 2,500. Composed of 25th, 27th and 29th Inf Regt and one Artillery Regiment. NKA 10th Div re-equipped with Russian small arms.
26 Dec 50: NKA 10th Div departed HWACH’ON (樺川), KOREA on foot. PW promoted to Sr Lt, assigned as assistant CO, Political Section of 10th Div Hq Training Bn, 1st Co.
29 Dec 50: NKA 10th Div crossed the 38th parallel north of INJE (麟蹄), KOREA.
7 Jan 51: Advanced to YONGWOL (寧越), KOREA and engaged UN Forces.
30 Jan 51: NKA 10th Div arrived vicinity of KUNWI (軍威) KOREA via TANYANG (丹陽), YONGJU (榮州), ANDONG (安東), KOREA and Div divided into two units. One unit composed of 27th and 29th Inf Regt and half of Hq Unit, with CG, NKA 10th Div remained stationed at KUNWI, KOREA.
31 Jan 51: Other unit (composed of 25th Inf Regt, Arty Regt and half of Hq Unit including Training Bn) departed KUNWI on foot for CHONGSONG (靑松).
1 Feb 51: PW escaped from his unit at night after hearing UN loudspeaker broadcasts.
3 Feb 51: PW surrendered at KUSAN-DONG (九山洞), KOREA, ROK police-box.

c. Unit History:
NKA 10th Div was originally organized as NKOY■L Training Camp in SUKCH’ON (肅川), KOREA. In Apr 50, the unit was designated NKA 10th Div; it consisted of 25th, 27th, 29th Regt, and artillery regiment and Hq units, a total of about 5,000 troops. In early Jul 50, NKA 10th Div advanced to South KOREA. After heavy losses (about 50% loss), retreated from HYONP’UNG (玄風), KOREA in Sep 50. The unit was reorganized on 20 Dec 50 at HWACH’ON (樺川), KOREA. It now consists of 25th, 27th and 29th Regt, and an artillery regiment plus other attached units (Engineer Bn, Signal Bn, Medial Co, Recon Co, etc).

g. Disposition:
30 Jan 51, 10th Div was approx 20 km NE of KUNWI (軍威) perimeter, with 27th and 29th Infantry Regiments plus half of other attached units (Engineer Bn, Signal Bn, Medical Co, Recon Co) as reserve. 25th Infantry Regiment, Artillery Regiment plus the other half of attached units (Engineer Bn, Signal Bn, Medical Co, Recon Co and all of the Training Bn) in front of and 12 km east of Division CP.
h. Intentions:
NKA 10th Div penetrated to ANDONG (安東), KUNWI (軍威) and CH’ONGSONG (靑松) perimeter at 30 January 1951 as guerrilla troops.
i. Morale:
Morale was low; because of lack of artillery and air support and supplies.
j. Replacements:
No replacements were received since regrouping at HWACH’ON (樺川), KOREA on 20 December 1950.
k. Evacuation and Treatment of wounded:
Regiment aid stations were located approx 4km behind the lines, light wounds were treated there with mercurochrome, iodine solution, bandages, aspirin and sulfa-diazine, without any drugs for chilblain. The seriously wounded were evacuated to the filed hospital, which was usually located approx 4km behind the Division CP.
l. Supply:
Each man carried two days rations and 70 rounds of ammunition for small arms. Mortar shells were carried by ammunition bearers (20 shells per man) (sic). No supply were received from North KOREA since unit departed HWACH’ON (樺川), KOREA on 25 Dec 50. Weapons of the dead were collected and re-issued.

NKA 2nd Div, 6th Div, 27th Div and 31st Div situated in rear of NKA 10th Div.

o. Medical:
Typhus 10%
Scabies 5%
Chilblain 20%
Remarks: Extermination of lice (by vapor) was only way of prevention of typhus. No drugs for treatment of chilblain or scabies were available.
p. PW:
PW saw three US PW at CHUCH’ON (酒泉) on 7 Jan 51 and heard that these three were freed vicinity of TANYANG (丹陽), KOREA 9 Jan 51.
q. Pay of Personnel:
NKA 10th Div suspended all payment as of Sep 50.
