1. PERSONAL DETAILS:
PW NAME: CH’OE, Sun On (崔順彦) (최순언) (NKA)

ORGN: V Corps, 7th Div, Anti-Aircraft Bn, 1st Co, 1st Plat, 2nd Sqd
DUTIES: Rifleman (No AA pieces)

2. ASSESSMENT:
PW seemed to be telling the truth. Dates and places travelled was confusing.
The information should be assessed accordingly.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. Chronology:
Inducted into the 7th Div, 120mm Arty Regt, 3rd Bn, 9th co, 2nd Plat, 2nd Sqd 15 Sep 50 at SARIWON (YC 4164). Received no training. (PW did not see any 120mm guns). 6 km N of CHORWON (CT 4335), the 3rd Bn was redesignated as the 7th Div, Anti-Aircraft Bn.
PW did not know what happened to the Arty Regt nor had he heard of it since.
While in the Anti-Aircraft Bn, PW did not receive any training or seen any anti-aircraft pieces.
While traveling from SARIWON to the place of capture, the following places were passed:

Between 5 Feb 51 to 10 Feb 51 PW was in a field hospital, composed of many civilian houses.
PW was captured 10 Feb 51.

b. Location and Activities of Units.
As of 5 Feb 51, the Anti-aircraft Bn was located at CHONGGUM-NI (DS 2050).
7th Div Hq was located one mountain N of CHONGGUM-NI at a place called “YONGU-RI” (phonetic).
Missions of 7th Div units were unknown.
AT CHORWON PW was an unknown number of CCF troops during the night. They were marching northward.

PW claimed that his unit was never in combat.

　　PW heard from the Plat Ldr that Anit-Aircraft guns were to arrive from the rear to their unit. (Date of arrival and source were unknown).

d. Supplies:
PW did not carry any weapon.
PW did not know where and when the others received their ammo.
Food was acquired from villages they occupied.

e. Morale and Battle Effectiveness:
The moral in the PW Co was low because they lacked ammo and weapons. Most of them were afraid to fight because they feel that they will die.

f. Medical:
Between 5 Feb 51 to 10 Feb 51 PW was in a field hospital, located approximately 15 km E of WONGJU. PW saw 300 patients, many of which were suffering from an unknown sickness. He did not know if they were from the 7th Division.
While in the field hospital or in his unit, PW did not receive any immunization.
From PW Co four person had the same type of illness as the PW (headache, muscle aches, and fever).
Two soldiers in the PW Co had frost-bitten feet; no treatment was given. These men were forced to march.

g. Psychological Warfare:
PW surrendered voluntarily because he was sick.
PW saw UN leaflets at unknown places, but they were written in Chinese characters, so he could not understand their meaning.
