PW was cooperative but lacked information. He was unobservant and did not know the place names in KOREA.
The information seems unreliable.

112th Division

The 112th Divisions battled with UN forces three times and suffered heavy casualties but PW was unable to estimate the percentage of casualties.

b. Chronology:
PW inducted into the CNA 10 May 41 at HUNAN SHENG (湖南省).
PW commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant and became Platoon leader of an Independent Field Arty Co, 120th Div, 40th Army 4 Jul 48 at CHINGTAO (靑島).
He was captured by the CCF 28 Apr 50 at HAINAN TAO (海南島). Because PW did not reveal his rank, he was forced to join the CCF as a pvt. PW assigned to the 4th Field Army, 40th Army, 120th Div, Stretcher Co, 2nd Plat, 6th Squad, as a stretcher bearer.
17 Jun 50, PW marched with the entire 160th Div and arrived at KUANGCHU (廣州) 2 Jul 50. Unit rested here and 20 Jul 50, unit departed by rail arriving at SHENYANG (瀋陽) 30 Aug 50, and rested for approx 2 months and 10 Oct 50 departed by rail, passing through CHIAN (緝安) arriving at SINUIJU (XE 1839) 20 Oct 50.
PW was transferred to the 38th Army, 112th Div, 334th Regt, 3rd Bn, 8th Co, 2nd Plat, 5th Sqd as a rifleman, departed with the entire 112th Div southward via unknown mountain trails arriving at CS 510375 3 Feb 51. 112th Div battled UN forces in this area for 3 days retreating northward after suffering heavy casualties. During retreat, PW was separated from his unit and he voluntarily surrendered on 8 Feb 51.

The 112th Division received no replacements since PW joined the unit.

e. Food, Ammo and Other Supplies:
Food was obtained only through confiscation.
Received ammo 3 times, but PW did not recall places, dates, or amounts.

f. Signal:
Telephone was employed between battalion and higher echelon.
Runners were used in lower echelon units.

g. Morale:
Morale was low because of constant air attacks.

h. Medical:
There were a few cases of frostbit and frozen feet which were treated by unit medics.

i. Psychological Warfare:
PW surrendered because he was former CNA soldier and had no desire to fight.
PW saw leaflets which claimed that he would receive good treatment and food if he surrendered.
PW surrendered immediately, believing that he would be taken to FORMOSA.
