PW became separated from his unit o/a 110600 Feb 51. PW was of below average intelligence (illiterate).
a. Chronology:
1st Bn arrived vic Hill 514 CS 560387 o/a 8 Feb 51. Immediately upon arrival the 3rd Co (110 men) armed with 2x60mm mortars (50 rd per mortar), 3 Knee mortars (cal smaller than 60mm), 1 HMG (800 rd), 6 LMG (800 rd per MG) dug in on Hill 514 and was told to hold this position at all cost. O/a 110500 Feb 51 the 3rd Co was attacked by elements of 19th ROK Regt. During this engagement PW became separated from his unit o/a 110600 Feb 51. 1st Bn CP located 8 km generally N from place of capture. 335th Regt CP located 16 km generally NNW from 1st Bn CP.

d. Intentions:
1st Bn was to defend Hill 514. No knowledge of future intentions of the 38th Army.
e. Replacement: No knowledge of CCF to reinforce their current military strength in KOREA. No knowledge of 38th army being reinforced or relieved.
f. Morale: Morale among troops generally low due to lack of food and warm clothing.
