PW was not very cooperative and of below average intelligence. PW spoke CANTONESE dialect and was not interrogated thoroughly. Information should be assessed accordingly. Recommended for further interrogation.
a. Chronology:
PW enlisted in the CNA Jan 47. Jan 50 PW was captured at HAINA Island and forced into the CCF. 3rd Bn (600 men) departed CHINA Sep 50 and crossed the YALU River Dec 50. Date crossed 38th parallel unk. 29 Jan crossed the HAN River over big concrete bridge. Arrived at mountain 12 km S of HAN River. 3rd Bn bivouacked for 5 days. 9 Feb 51 3rd Bn arrived at mountain approx 12 km N from place of capture (CS 698449). 9th Co (3rd Bn) proceeded S and arrived at Hill 239 on night of 12 Feb 51 (PW heard from Co CO that 7th, 8th and HMG Co were located approx 2 km W of Hill 239). 4th Sqd was sent out in front of the Co to dig in but were attacked by UN forces before 4th Sqd was able to dig in. 4th Sqd retreated leaving PW behind due to wound received by S?A on right leg. PW was captured following day (131040 Feb 51).

Picked up surrender leaflet but was unable to read. Leaflets were not discussed among troops.
