1. PERSONAL DETAILS:

2. ASSESSMENT:
Subject cooperative; fairly reliable.

3. CIRCUMSTANCE OF CAPTURE:
260500 Nov 50, at YONGWON, NK, 1st Bn was encircled by CCF when crossing TAEDONG River. Approx 120 ROK troops from 1st Bn and total of 1,300 from 8th Div were taken PW. PW were turned over to the 5th NK Corps on 30 Nov 50 at location 8km N of YONGWON, NK, in groups of 30 to 50 to various NK units.

4. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. CHRONOLOGY: (1st Regt, 2nd NK Div)
260500 Nov 50 - Captured by CCF at YONGWON.
301800 Nov 50 - Turned over to V NK Corps at YONGWON and departed.
13 Dec 50 - Arrived and departed YANGDOK.
20 Dec 50 - Arrived at YANGGU via ODAH MT Range.
23 Dec 50 - Arrived at CHUNCHON.
27 Dec 50 - Arrived at WONJU. Brief engagement ensued here.
1 Jan 51 - Withdrew to KAPCHON MYON, HOENGSUNG GUN. Remained here training, digging air-raid shelters, and received political indoctrination (until escape).
V NK Corps moved in the following order: 2nd Div, 1st Regt, 2nd and 3rd Regt, 6th Div, 7th Div, V Corps Hq.

e. Morale:
Morale was excellent. Commissars constantly indoctrinated men that all UN Forces above 38th Parallel mid Oct 1950 were wiped out, remnants of UN Forces in S KOREA were battered: Day when US troops would be pushed out from KOREA is near; and NEW YORK and TOKYO were bombed by CCAF with excellent results.

f. ENEMY INTENTION:
1st Bn CO (1st Regt, 6th Div) announced to men that 8 Feb 51 would be D-day, when general offensive push would start in all front. This date marks the anniversary of NKA and a celebration party would be in order, prior to D-hour. D-hour was unknown. Therefore, he warned men to prepare and be completed by 6 Feb (alert).
Instructions were:
(1) Take care of feet (make 2 socks and straw-sandals each).
(2) Wash uniform and repair.
(3) Hair cut.
(4) Make a bag to hold 5 grenades.
(5) Make a rice bag to hold 4 days provision for emergency.
(6) Prepare 3 days supply of rice cake.
V NK Corps, by then (8 Feb) would be to the rear (south) of UN Forces and would in conjunction with all guerrilla units attack northward, sandwiching UN troops. The D-day will be an all out push with CCAF, tanks and Arty in coordination with the ground units (both CCF and NKA).

Present location of guerrillas:
CHIRI SAN (NW of CHUNJU), CDAE SAN (ENG of WONJU and N of GONGYANG-NI - Hill 1561, and PAL GONG SAN (E of TAEGU)).

g. ADJACENT UNIT:
7th NK Div south (16km) of 6th Div. Regt were strung along north to south with 6 to 8km interval.

h. CIRCUMSTANCE OF ESCAPE:
Source with 2 other ROK escaped saying they were of NK troops on a Rcn mission.
