1. PERSONAL DETAILS:

2. ASSESSMENT:
PW cooperative but information limited.
PW and two others deserted and surrendered carrying UN surrender leaflet.
Not recommended for further interrogation.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. Mission:
10th Div mission was to come to ANDONG area to disrupt communication lines of UN and MDR.

b. Strength of Unit:
(1) Original Strength: When departed HWACHON on 25 Dec 50.

c. Military History:
20 Dec 50 - 10th Div arrived at HWACH’ON for reorganization. About 2000 civilians conscripted. Also picked up stragglers.
23 Dec 50 - 10th Div departed HWACH’ON, moved south. 29th Regt led movement, followed by 27th Regt, Div Hq, 25th and Arty Regt. 25th and 27th Regt encountered enemy twice before nearing ANDONG.
20 Jan 51 - Arrived ANDONG vicinity where 27th and 29thh Regt separated from Div. Rest of Div arrived at SONGSADONG where units recuperated for a week. Then resumed travel, moving north, at times south and sometimes east. Troops traveled only at nights and slept in villages during day.
4 Feb 51 - PW recalled sighting the Japan Sea. (Location unk.)
6 Feb 51 - At 2000 hours, units arrived at location, approx 12 km WNW of KIGYE (EQ 1891) where all units assembled. After two hours, units started moving towards KIGYE. Elements of 25th Regt led movement, followed by Div Hq, 25th Regt and Arty Regt. Destination unknown. Traveling slow. Troops marched in single column.
7 Feb 51 - Troops slept during day, movement resumed at dark.
8 Feb 51 - 0100 hours. As Arty Regt neared KIGYE (EQ 1891), one Bn (rear guard) 25th Regt started to withdraw because they sighted 8 UN tanks near route of travel. Arty Regt and one Bn of 25th Regt withdrew to position approx 6 Km West of KIGYE to plan their next movement. As troops slept for the rest of the night, PW deserted. Surrendered in the vicinity of KIGYE.
