3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. Mission:
Chief mission 7th and 9th Co, 3rd Bn, 27th Regt, 10th Div, II Corps then was to set roadblocks between UISON (DR 7322) and ANDONG (DR 7647).

c. Chronology:
17 Apr 50 - Entered NKA at SUKCH'ON.
10 May 50 - Completed Military training at SUKCH'ON.
19 Jun 50 - Arrived POKKE, Ammo Dump. Hauled ammo location unk.
5 Jul 50 - Ammo hauling at SUWON.
25 Jul 50 - Arrived at NAKTONG River near SONGJU (DQ 3575). Here 27th Regt was organized.
22 Aug 50 - 27 Regt set up defense line at SONGJU (DQ 3575).
20 Sep 50 - 1st Marine Div INCHON invasion compelled retreat of 27th Regt. Arrived at YANGDOK, NORTH KOREA.
2 Dec 50 - II Corps retreated and assembled at CHEMPANG, NORTH KOREA.
5 Dec 50 - 7th Co raided CHICHON NI, NORTH KOREA police box during day. Killed 4.
6 Dec 50 - 7th Co recuperated at CHICHONG. Waited for 3rd Bn arrival.
11 Dec 50 - 3rd Bn assembled and marched South; location unk since traveled during night.
15 Dec 50 - 0530, engaged in brief firefight with ROK at CHUNCHON, NORTH KOREA.
15 Dec 50 - Firefight with ROK at KAPYONG. Approx 6 KIA, 12 WIA in 7th Co.
17 Dec 50 - Marched during night and attacked ROK unit at MOREIKOGE (hill 3 miles E of CHUNCHON). Took approx 100 ROK PW. No casualties in 3rd Bn.
20 Dec 50 - 3rd Bn had originally sought to retreat to KAPYONG. Since it was occupied by ROK unit, retreated to CHICHONG, NORTH KOREA.
26 Dec 50 - 3rd Bn waited for CCF at CHICHONG to join force. No CCF arrived. 7th Co strength reduced to 71 at end of period.
10 Jan 51 - Marched southward during night. Route unk. Fought minor battles with ROK Army almost everyday. Approx 30 WIA, 1 KIA in 3rd Bn during period covered. Arrived at TANG-DONG (ER 0567). Strength of 7th Co after arrival - 64. 10th Div CP was located at PAEGAM-SAN (ER 2763). Bn was told if scattered, to assemble at PAEGAM-SAN (ER 2763).
20 Jan 51 - 3rd Bn recuperated at ER 1567.
24 Jan 51 - Arrived at TAEGOK-TONG (DR 9258). Slept on roadside.
25 Jan 51 - Marched during night, slept in unk mountain.
27 Jan 51 - 3rd Bn arrived CHOMGOK (DR 7931) 0600. Brief firefight with ROK Army. 3rd Bn casualties; 4 KIA, 6 WIA. Retreated to village unk.
28 Jan 51 - Attacked CHOMGOK village again, but found place abandoned.
29 Jan 51 - Slept near HWANGHAK-SAN (DR 8935); marched to SONGJE-DONG (DR 9523) during night.
30 Jan 51 - Slept during day at DR 9523. Attacked by ROK Army about 1200, retreated to PAEKCHA-DONG (DR 8828). 3rd Bn casualties; 6 WIA. Hid them in nearby cave, well guarded.
31 Jan 51 - Slept during the day.
1 Feb 51 - 7th and 9th Co received orders to set road blocks a mile West of PAEKCHA-DONG (DR 8828). Set roadblock and marched to HUNG-DONG (DR 8625).
2 Feb 51 - Arrived HUNG-DONG (DR 8625) 0600. PW was captured when having breakfast.

d. Personalities:

7th Co CO - KIM, He Chel

e. Weapons and Equipment:
82mm Mort - 2 in 3rd Bn approx 20 rd.
HMG - 6 in 3rd Bn approx 700 rd.
LMG - 10 in 3rd Bn.
M-1 Rifle - Approx 12 per Co. Ammo; approx 50 per man.
Carbine - Approx 10 per Co. 30 rd per man.
PPSH SMG - Approx 8 per Co. Approx 70 rd per man.

f. Status of Supply; Routes of Supply:
No resupply of Ammo, food and clothing. Shelter taken whereever possible; usually in mountains. Had 1 medical aid per Co who carried Mercurochrome.

g. Other Units:
29th Regt had bulk of the troops near ANDONG; 27th Regt between ANDONG and UISONG. 25th Regt primary mission was to act as flank guards for the 10th Div located approx 4 miles E of HUNG-DONG o/a 2 Feb 51.

h. Foreign Elements:
Expected CCF troops to join 3rd Bn at CHICHONG, NORTH KOREA o/a 10 Jan 51. However, no foreign elements joined them.

i. Morale:
Low, due to lack of ammo and other supplies. However, communist propaganda tried to build up morale of soldiers by telling them CCF enroute to join them, also some 200 airplanes will support their future fighting.

j. Weapons most feared:
Artillery barrage and air attacks were the most effective weapons used against the enemy.

k. Tactics:
Tactics employed by PW Unit: Fought early mornings most of the time. A Bn strength was put into front line action for a period of a week, which later was replaced by another Bn. Primary objective was to set roadblocks during night and to cut UN MSR. Enemy had few mines but they did not use in road blocking.

l. Psychological Warfare:
Troops caught reading UN surrender pamphlets were killed and their family severely punished.
