FIELD REPORT (24 Div - LDI - 0180)　8 February 1951

1. PERSONAL DETAILS:
NAME: CHU Kwan Chien (Chinese)

2. ASSESSMENT:
PW wounded right leg and had forstbitten feet. PW was of average intelligence and fairly cooperative. Information obtained considered fairly reliable.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. Chronology:
341st Regt crossed the 38th Parallel o/a 29 Dec 50 and arrived at location approx 16 km N of SEOUL o/a 31 Dec 50. 341st Regt bivouacked at this location for approx 20 days and crossed the HAN River location on 220200 Jan 51. Route taken after crossing. 341st Regt crossed the HAN River via YANGPYONG CS 6849 and arrived at location approx 1km S of YANGPYONG on or about 051500 Feb 51. PW believes the Regt Hq is presently located there. The 3 Bn of 341st Regt were located in vic of Regt Hq. The distance between Bn to Regt Hq was approx 1 km. Upon arriving at this location 341st Regt Hq received arty fire. PW observed approx 20 killed, 7-8 wounded. PW Plat was immediately ordered to proceed to hill approx 4 km S of Regt Hq and was told to hold at all cost. PW Plat received small arms fire 6 Feb 51 causing Plat to retreat north leaving 6 killed. PW was wounded and hid in position until capture by 19th RCT.
PW had no knowledge of other units or knowledge of being relieved by other units. However PW heard that 341st Regt will receive replacements by Chinese New Year.

114th Div: 340th, 341st, 342nd Regt and Arty Bn.
341st Regt: 3 Rifle Bn.
2nd Bn: 3 Rifle Co and HMG Co.
Inf Co: 3 Rifle Plat, Mortar Plat.
HMG Co: 3 Plat.

c. Weapons:
Inf Co: 6 LMG, 12 SMG (M3), 1 60mm Mortar.
HMG Co: 3 60mm Mortars, 6-HMG.
When crossing the 38th Parallel PW saw 5-6 81mm mortars at Regt Hq and 5-6 arty pieces (cal u/k).
Due to shortage of ammo for Jap type rifles, M-1 Rifles and Carbines were reissued. Discarded ammo for M-1 Rifles and Carbines were issued.

d. Passive Defense:
During daylight hours troops are forbidden to leave fox holes therefore casualties from arty relatively few.
