2. ASSESSMENT:
PW appeared to be in good physical condition except for a bullet graze above his right eye. Cooperative and of average intelligence. Information obtained seems fairly reliable but language difficulties were encountered. Recommended for further interrogation.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. Unit Organization. Strength and Equipment.
50th Army (code name: C■…■-PU ■江部) composed of 148th, 149th and 150th Div, Arty Bn, and Sig Co. The above code name for 50th Army was used in CHINA.
148th Div composed of 442nd, 443rd, and 444th Regt, Sig Co and Mortar Bn.
149th Div composed of 445th, 446th, and 447th Regt, Sig Co and Mortar Bn.
150th Div composed of 448th, 449th and 450th Regt, Sig Co and Mortar Bn.
Each Regt of the above three Div composed of 3 Rifle Bn, Sig Plat and Arty Btry.
Each Bn composed of 3 Rifle Co and HMG Co.
Each Co composed of 3 Rifle Plat and 60mm Mortar Sqd.

Casualties were cased by air strikes, sickness, and stragglers, air strikes taking the heaviest toll.
Each Plat had 3 LMG, 22 type 79 Chinese rifles, 2 type 79 Chinese rifles, 2 type 36 Chinese SMG (30 rd ea).
Each man issued 2 hand grenades and 200 rd. There were 3 or 4 Bangalore torpedoes per Co.
HMG Co had 6 x HMG.
Sig Plat equipped with 2 telephones.
Arty Btry had 6 x 82 mm mortars.
Arty Bn had 18 x 82 mm mortars.
Sig Co (attached to Div) had 2 telephones and 2 telegraphs or radios (Hearsay fro Co CO).
Arty (Bn attached to Army) equipped with 8 x 82mm mortars and 3 arty pieces, of which 2 were US make and one Japanese.

b. Unit Assignment and Intentions
261800 Jan 51, PW Co was to enter SUWON(CS2527) and set up defensive positions.
PW heard from a political officer at ANTUNG Oct 50 that they were to drive the US troops out of KOREA.

c. Disposition
As of 16 Jan 51, Bn CP was located approx 15 miles south of SEOUL and 3-4 miles east of MSR in a village of approx 45 houses. There were 10 unburned houses which were all occupied.

d. Communications
Communication from Bn and higher Hq was by telephone or radio. Bn and lower headqurters by runners.

f. Artillery
6 Jan 51, 12 arty pieces were observed approx 23 miles north of SEOUL along the side of MSR.

g. Morale
Morale of 50% of men low due to lack of food and fatigue. Morale of the majority of former CNA soldiers low.

h. Chronology
PW formerly in the CNA. 447th Regt crossed YALU River 27 Oct 50 at ANTUNG in boat. Crossed CHONGCH’ON River Nov 50 and travelled along MSR at night, arriving SEOUL o/a 12 Jan 51. PW Co arrived vic SUWON (CS2527) 27 Jan 51.

i. Food and Ammo Supplies
Food supply insufficient. Some confiscated food from vic YONGDUNGPO brought by horses through mountain trails. Additional s/a ammo (100 rd) and 22 rd of mortar ammo received once, Nov 50, at PAKCHON(YE2200). No additional clothing received. UN air strikes seriously hampered supply movements.

j. Replacements
No replacements received. Wounded personnel sent to rear for medical attention, and upon recovering returned to original units. Stragglers were returned to their original units.

k. Psychological Warfare
PW did not see or hear of any UN leaflets or broadcasts.

l. UN PW
PW observed six US PW heading north after crossing IMJIN River.

m. Medical
PW received one immunization, type unknown, at PAKCH'ON (YE2200) Nov 50 and one north of SEOUL o/a 20 Dec 50. Malaria was the most prevalent disease in PW unit. Narcotics and drugs were forbidden in the CCF and those having them were punished.
