FIELD REPORT (ADVATIS - 1331)　6 February 1951

PW fairly intelligent and cooperative. Reliability; fair.

14 Apr 50: Conscripted into the II Corps, 10th Div, 29th Regt, Med Co at SUKCH'ON(肅川). 10th Div organized the day PW was inducted. Received 2 months basic training.

25 Jan 50: 10th Div transferred to P’YONGYANG for further training. PW received first aid training for approx 25 days near P’YONGYANG.

26 Jul 50: Departed P’YONGYANG by train. O/a 1 Aug 50, arrived SEOUL.

31 Aug 50: Arrived OKSAN-DONG(玉山洞) approx 1 km east of NAKTONG River(洛東江) and approx 12 km west of KORYONG(高靈).

1 Sep 50: 0400, engaged US Army and ROK Army.

22 Sep 50: Advanced to HYONPUNG(玄風) approx 8 km southwest of OKSAN-DONG; crossed NAKTONG River. At HYONPUNG, PW observed approx 20 US PW and 30 ROK PW departing for P’YONGYANG on 2 trucks (PW learned destination from one of truck drivers). PW further stated that 200 men of the 29th Regt were killed and 100 wounded out of the original strength of 3200 men. Wounded men were sent to civilian hospital in KORYONG by cart.

23 Sep 50: Arrived SONGJU(星州). 29th Regt again engaged US and ROK troops for 2 days. Captured approx 10 ROK troops. Approx 200 of NKA men killd and 100 wounded. 29th Regt retreated to CHONBAN-MYON(前半面) approx 40 km north of the 38th Parallel and 40 km west of the East Coast. 200 wounded were also brought back to CHONBAN-MYON. Spent approx 40 days retreating by night and sleeping during the day.

2 Nov 50: 10th Div, 9th Div, 2nd Div, and 31st Div under II Corps assembled at CHONBAN-MYON.

5 Nov 50: 29th Regt arrived KUMHWA(金化).

10 Nov 50: Arrived YONGH’ON(連川) after 5 days of battle against ROK Army. Captured 50 PW who were sent to CHONBAN-MYON. During 5 days of battle 29th Regt lost 400 men killed and 150 men wounded.

10 Dec 50: When 29th Regt arrived at KAP’YONG(加平) approx 1000 men were already killed and 300 wounded. 29th Regt reduced to 900 men.

17 Dec 50: Arrived KANGDONG-MYON(江東面). PW believes that CCF troops were already at the 38th Parallel. II Corps 29th Regt recuperated at KANGDONG-MYON approx 10 days.

13 Jan 51: Arrived CHUNGAM-NI(中岩里) approx 15 km east of WONJU(原州).

14 Jan 51: PW separated from 29th Regt. Followed 2nd Div to join his own unit in TANYANG

19 Jan 51: When PW arrived TANYANG 10th Div had already left for ANDONG(安東). 2nd Div also headed for ANDONG, but PW was left behind because of his illness.

21 Jan 51: Captured in vic TANYANG.

KIM, Yong Paek(金用澤), Capt, Co Med Officer, 24, Height: 5’6”, Weight: 70 kg, Build: Fat, Complexion: Reddish, long face, CHUNGAM-NI 13 Jan 51, Graduated Med College in CHINA.

CHANG, Wu Sop(長禹■), Jr Lt, Stretcher Plat Leader(将架小隊長), 23, Height: 5’5”:, Weight: 60 kg, Complexion: Dark, married, Last Seen: CHUNGAM-NI 13 Jan 51.

KIM, Kwang Chong(金光淸), Lt, 2nd Bn Sanitary Plat Ldr, 27, Height: 5’5”, Weight: 55 kg, Build: Slender, Complexion: Ruddy, single, Last Seen: CHUNGAM-NI 13 Jan 51.

CHOE, Yong Su(崔永水), Lt, 3rd Bn Sanitary Plat Ldr, 24, Height: 5’4”, Weight: 60 kg, Build: Fat, Complexion: Yellowish red, bullet scar on right forehead, single, Last Seen: CHUNGAM-NI 13 Jan 51, Graduated Middle School.
