2. ASSESSMENT:
PW had poor memory for dates and figures. Reliability, poor.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. Chronology:
1 Sep 50: PW volunteered for the “Volunteer” Corps in KANGGYONG(江景).
4 Sep 50 - 26 Sep 50: Received basic training at IRI(裡里)? Only the training center which consisted of approx 1000 troops was located here. The training center CO was a Lt, who was heard to be from a guerrilla unit. Besides the CO were 5 or 6 NKA Officers.
26 Sep 50: The training center received orders to retreat to MANP’OJIN(滿浦鎭) and was divided into three groups. PW group consisting of approx 300 troops, retreated on foot.
1 Oct 50: Observed UN troops (US) at YONGDONG(永同). Retreated approx 4 km S of KOESAN-NI(槐山里) and rested there for 2 days.
15 Oct 50: Passed through vicinity of YONGWOL.
1 Nov 50: At KANGNUNG(江陵) joined an NKA Force of approx 2000 troops that were assigned to 5th and 6th Div which formerly engaged in combat in the vicinity of TAEGU(大邱). The NKA Force and PW unarmed group met the ROK Force (strength about one Bn) stationed in that area. After approx 6 hours of combat ROK Forces retreated and headed North. PW heard for the first time that the UN Forces landed at WONSAN(元山). HAMHUNG(咸興), CHONGJIN(淸津).
30 Nov 50: PW group reached NAMHUNG-DONG(南興洞) via T’ONGCHON(通川). PW group reduced to 150 out of 300. The other 150 either dropped back due to illness or deserted. PW heard that 2000 troops from 5th and 6th Div advanced further North. PW group managed to go thru the UN lines without being detected. PW group (150 men) was assigned to the 2nd Div NKA.
10 Dec 50: PW observed CCF troops marching. PW heard from a CCF officer (rank unk) that the CCF troops were part of the 3rd Field Army consisting of approx 1,000,000 men. PW also heard that the 3rd Field Army separated into two sections at UNSONG-DONG(雲松洞) and that one section went to PYONGYANG(平壤) and the other to HAMHUNG(咸興).
10 Jan 51: 2nd Div advanced to TANYANG(丹陽) via PUICHON(■川), MAEONGSAN(孟山), ICHON(伊川) and HOENGSONG(橫城).
15 Jan 51: 2nd Div(approx 1000 men) and 10th Div(approx 500 men) engaged in combat with UN Forces and were defeated. PW believed that approx 100 men of the 2nd Div were killed. PW heard that the 6th and 9th Div were at the rear and that they received heavy casualties from air attack.
16 Jan 51: PW deserted with a friend to the mountains.
22 Jan 51: PW surrendered to the UN Forces.

e. Disposition:
When last observed (16 Jan 51) 2nd Div was 4 km E of TANYANG(丹陽) with 10th Div in front line and 6th and 9th Div in the rear approx 12 km N of TANYANG(丹陽).

f. Morale:
Low, because of lack of provisions and arms. No replacements were received while PW was in 2nd Div.

g. Evacuation and Treatment of Wounded:
Aid stations were located approx 4 km to the rear of the line and wounded men were carried by stretchers. Majority of seriously wounded men died before they reached the aid station. Medicine was scarce and treatment was poor. When 2nd Div retreated North a large number of wounded men were left behind.

h. Supply:
Each man carried 3 days rations and approx 30 rd.

I. Weapon feared most:
Napalm Bombs.
