FIELD REPORT (2 Div - LDI - No Number) 31 January 1951

1. PERSONAL DETAILS:

DATE & PLACE OF CAPTURE: 28 Jan 51 at MUNMANG-NI (CS9528)

2. ASSESSMENT:
Evaluation: Sources were very cooperative, but because they were PW of the CCF and were unable to converse with them, information is very limited. What information obtained seems fairly reliable. Not recommended for further interrogation.
Sources were captured by CCF troops 21 Jan 51, 8 Km N of YANGPYONG and escaped 24 Jan 51. During this three day periods they were used to carry rice from YANGPYONG RR Sta (used as rice storage) to the bivouac site which was the place of capture. They observed an estimated 2-3,000 CCF troops resting in an around YANGPYONG.
Sources observed only small arms and no mortars or machine guns. Ammo supply appeared very short.
LEE Sang Ok was told by a Korean interpreter for the CCF that all PW were going to be taken to CHINA for schooling; then inducted into their army.
25 Jan 51 sources observed another group of an estimated 2,000 in the vic of YANGPYONG and were told by a farmer that they were heading NE in the direction of HONGCHON (DS0471). No other enemy troops were observed after this date.

3. PHYSICAL CONDITION OF TROOPS:
Appeared very healthy. No contagious sickness observed or heard of.
Clothing: All in winter clothing.
Food : Confiscated from villages; appeared to be sufficient.
