PW was cooperative and talked freely.
Information seemed fairly reliable in view of PW good memory.

50th Army: 148th, 149th and 150th Rifle Div, Code Name for 150th Army “LIANGSHANPU (■山部)”.
150th Div: 448th, 449th and 450th Rifle Regt 92mm AT GUN BN.
450th Regt: 3 Rifle Bn 82 mm Mortar Co.
3rd BN: 3 Rifle Co HMG CO.
7th Co: 3 Rifle Plat 60 mm Mortar Plat.
1st Plat: 3 Rifle Sqd. Each sqd had 8 men.

4. CODE NAMES USED IN KOREA:
448th Regt - 1st Company (一中隊)
449th Regt - 2nd Company (二中隊)

5. LOCATION AND ACTIVITIES OF UNITS:
Arriving on a mountain approx. 1,000 meters E of YONGJI-RI (CS4722), 1st Plat dug defensive positions which were attacked three times in three days by UN troops supported by about 20 tanks 26 Jan 51.
450th Regt was in the vicinity of mountain.

6. PERSONAL & UNIT HISTORY:
PW with 100 others conscripted 4 Jul 49 into 8th Route Army at YENCHI SHENG (延吉省) MANCHURIA.
Without basic training, PW assigned to 7th Co 3rd Bn, 450th Regt, 150th Div, 50th Army 4th Field Army at YENJI SHENG.
O/a 3 Aug 49, 50th Army arrived SSUCHUAN SHENG (四川省) via HONAN (湖南) and HUPEI (湖北).d
50th Army engaged CNA and remained at SSUCHUAN SHENG approx 7 months.
May 50, the entire 50th Army departed from SSUCHUAN SHENG passing through HONAN, HUPEI, and arrived at FIENG TIEN (奉天) in Sep.
On 20 Oct 50, 50th Army departed FIENG TIEN by train for KOREA and arrived ANTUNG (安東).
Oct 50 the 450th Regt marched over the YALU River to SINUIJU (KE1839).
450th Regt remained in SINUIJU for three days and proceeded south passing CHOLSAN(KE4314), PACKCHON(YD2098), SINANJU(YD2198), PYONGYANG vic (YD3920), SEOUL and arrived in the vicinity E of YANGJI-RI (CS4722) o/s 21 Jan 51 four days (marching at nights) from SEOUL.
7th Co advanced to a mountain (approx 1,000 meters E of YANGJI RI) where PW was captured by UN troops after three days battle on 261400 I Jan 51.

8. FOOD, AMMO AND OTHER SUPPLIES:
450th Regiment did not receive food, ammo supplies since entering KOREA.
PW received one issue of 50 rd s/s ammo SINUIJU Oct 50.

9. SIGNAL:
Field telephones used above company levels.
3 white flares in the PW company not used.
Bugle of PW company used for attack signals and identification at night with a friendly unit.

10. MORALE AND BATTLE EFFECTIVENESS:
Morale of PW unit low due to lack of weapons, ammunitions, and inadequate clothing and food. Troops fear air raids.

11. MEDICAL:
a. Malaria was the most common disease in the PW unit.
b. PW was immunized once at SINUIJU in Oct 50. Type of immunization was not known to PW.
c. There were very few cases of frost bite and frozen feet in his unit.

12. PSYCHOLOGICAL WARFARE:
a. Did you surrender voluntarily?
a. PW did not surrender voluntarily but was captured in the battle.
b. Did you see any UN leaflets or hear UN loudspeaker broadcasts?
