PW was cooperative and talked freely.
Information appears not too reliable because PW was not able to remember exact dates and place names.

3rd Bn: 3 Rifle Cos, Sig Plat, Recon Sqd, Med Plat & Eng Plat.
1st Co: 3 Rifle Plats.
1st Plat: 3 Rifle Sqds (Each sqd consisted of 10 man).

4. PERSONAL & UNIT HISTORY:
PW conscripted 14 Jul 50 at SARIWON (YC4065).
PW with approx 300 conscripts assigned to 3rd Bn when 6th Regt of 2nd Div was organized at SARIWON.
O/a 19 Jul 50, PW’s 3rd Bn along with 6th Regt departed SARIWON and proceeded south.
Traveled to SEOUL from SARIWON, over following route:

From 20 Aug to d/u Sep 50, 3rd Bn remained in SEOUL and was used as a labor bn, hauling rice from YONGDUNGPO (CS1554) to SEOUL.
O/a 30 Sep 50, 3rd Bn retreated from SEOUL and arrived at CHORWON d/u Nov 50.
After regrouping in CHORWON, 6th Regt of 2nd Div departed 15 Dec 50 and proceeded south.
PW arrived with 3rd Bn at SAMSAN DO (DS405006) 12 Jan 51. PW did not know name places between CHORWON and SAMSAN DONG because Bn traveled only at nights.
PW went out to get some rice for PW’s 1st Co at SAMSAN DONG when 3rd Bn was attacked by US Troops (2nd Bn of 32nd RCT).
During attack, PW was captured alone.

5. LOCATION & ACTIVITIES:
1st and 2nd Bns along with 6th Regt were approx 2 km to rear of PW’s 3rd Bn (West of SAMSAN DONG) at the time of his capture 120600 I Jan 51.
No detailed info concerning 1st and 2nd Bns since 12 Jan 51.

6. PERSONALITIES:
LEE, Kwon Mu (리권무); Maj (少佐); Bn CO; 3rd Bn, 6th Regt, 2nd Div.

7. COMMUNICATIONS:
Runners used between Bn and Regt’l Hqs.
Field telephones used above Regt.

8. FOOD AND AMMO SUPPLIES:
Food obtained locally. Usually, troops in Bn carried 1-day food supply while marching.
No additional ammo supply received since departing CHORWON 15 Dec 50. Average of 20 rds carried by each rifleman.

9. MORALE:
Morale of PW’s unit low due to inadequate clothing and food. Majority of the troops were suffering from severely frostbitten feet.

10. PSYCHOLOGICAL MORALE:
a. Did you surrender voluntarily? If so, why?
a. Yes. PW surrendered voluntarily because he was alone and could not return to his own unit which was attacked by UN troops.
b. Did you see any United Nations leaflets, or hear any loudspeaker broadcasts?

a. Negative.
