2. ASSESSMENT:
Though he was cooperative PW lacked detailed information.

3. MILITARY HISTORY:
14 Dec 50: Conscripted into NKA at KUMHWA (金化) with approximately 1000 conscripts. According to hearsay all men between the ages of 16 to 37 were conscripted into the NKA at this time.
15 Dec 50: The group of approximately 1000 conscripts arrived at KUMAN (九萬) where the 27th Regt was regrouping. The 1000 recruits were assigned to the 27th Regt as replacements however they were not issued uniforms, and were used in hauling supplies.
16 Dec 50: 27th Regt departed KUMAN and arrived at MUNGYONG via HONGCH’ON (■川), HOENGSONG (橫城), YONGWOL (寧越), CHUNGBUK (定北), and KYONGBUK (慶北) o/a 11 Jan 51. During this march southward the regiment received about 12 air attacks, but PW did not know if there were any casualties or loss of equipment. PW’s right foot was frost-bitten and he marched with the sick troops who followed the group in the rear.
O/a 12 Jan 51: 27th Regt departed MUNGYONG during the night leaving PW behind with frost bitten foot in a Korean home.
20 Jan 51: PW captured by the local defense force of MUNGYONG.

4. ORGANIZATION:
1st Bn consisted of 3 Rifle Co’s and 1 mortar Co. Number of regiments in the 10th Div, and the number of battalions in the 27th Regt was unknown. Number of men in the 27th Regt was unknown but PW estimates that there were approximately 15 men in a squad.

5. WEAPONS:
2 mortars in PW’s Plat. About 70 percent of the troops in the 27th Regt were armed with rifles or SMGs. PW believed that there were 50 rounds of ammunition to each rifle. Only 5 hand grenades in Plat.

6. INTENTIONS:
According to PW’s platoon leader the 27th Regt was heading for TAEGU but he did not say whether their plan is to attack TAEGU or not.
