4. UNIT MOVEMENT:
Prior to reaching TANGYANG, 10th Div moved with 27th, 29th Inf Regts as leading elements, followed by Div CP, Div Arty Regt and and 25th Inf Regt respectively. However, after passing through TONCHON NI (DR 4578) in the same order, 25th Regt passed through the Arty Regt in-between ■O■JA DONG (DR 5571) and raided that village on the night of 15 Jan.
Since TOKCHON NI, the disposition of 27th, 29th Regts and Div CP was unk. These Regts were still far ahead of Div Arty Regt and 25th Regts. After Div Arty Regt with the 45mm Mortar Bn arrived at PUNGU RI (DR 6269), this force encountered UN Forces there and subsequently was forced to withdraw towards YAECHON GUN (SW direction from PUNGU RI) commencing around 161900 Jan.

6. ENEMY INTENTION:
10th Div intentions are believed to be: (a) Move as far south as “HAGA-SAN” (Mt), located midway from PUNGGI and ANDONG; establish CP and positions. (b) Operate from this mountainous region which would be in striking distance of PUNGGI, YONGJU, and ANDONG. (c) To establish road blocks on UN MSRs and impede UN supply movements. 10th Div intended to move southeast from SOJWADONG (DR 5571); this progress was quickly repulsed on 16 Jan by US force, therefore, alternate route via YAECHON area was chosen.

7. WEAPONS:
10th Div had 4 x 76mm, 2 x 120mm Hows, and 2 SU-76 SP Guns at HWACHON. These weapons were turned over to the 15th NK Div o/a 24 Nov 50, prior to their move south. Reason being to eliminate transportation difficulties of the scheduled movement over mountain range (TAEBAEK-SAN) from HWACHON area.
Ind 45mm Mortar Bn: 12 pieces (equally distributed to each Inf Regt)
AT Bn: 40 AT guns (Cal - unk. Equally divided with one gun per company) (Sic)
Maxim HMGs: 3 per Regt
DP LMGs: 9 〃 〃
Troops: M1891/30 Russ Rifles (70%)
 PPSH M1941 SMGs (25%)
 US M-1 Rifles (21/2%)
 US Carbines (21/2%)

8. SUPPLY:
(a) Food:
Insufficient. Food supplies acquired by pillaging villages. Although there was no actual necessity of carrying food during movement, certain amount was carried for emergencies.
(b) Ammo:
45mm Mortars: Approx 100 rds per mortar.
AT guns: 〃 40-50 rds per gun.
Maxim HMGs: (Sufficient amount)
DP LMGs: (〃 〃)
Rifles: Ample supply. Usually, each man carried 50 rds.

9. REPLACEMENTS:
PW had no knowledge of replacements, reserves or adjacent units. However, all Political Commissars (Propaganda officers) said that the main force of the NK Army was close behind the 10th Div. (TN: Propaganda….?). When 10th Div left HWACHON, o/a 25 Nov 50, there were strong indications that this is so called main body would follow since the men of 10th Div observed a large force at HWACHON prior to the 10th Div’s departure.

10. CASUALTIES:
PW believes the casualties of 10th Div to be:
Div Arty Regt: KIA - 70-80 men
WIA - 50-60 〃
MIA - 20-30 〃
Since this Div Arty Regt was committed into action only once at HWACHON, o/a 20 Nov 50, the casualty rate was comparatively low.

For the AC of S, G-2:
