From there at the end of Nov 50 the 336th traveled through WONWI, where the 112th Div suffered about 1,000 casualties through air attack and ground fire. From here they traveled to YONCHON, arriving there on or about 28 Dec 50. Here, they heard from others that the whole 38th Army was present, but he himself did not see them. 2 Jan 51, the 336th Regt arrived at POCH’ON.
4 Jan 51, it left POKCH’ON and arrived at KWANJU (CS3948), from where the Regt departed and arrived at KWANCHONG located approximately 6 Km NE of YANJIRI (CS4823) on 101700 Jan 51, spending the night there.
101800 Jan 51, the 336th Regt Commander told them they might stay there anywhere from one week to ten days until further orders were received from higher headquarters. The regimental commander said from there on they would be entering flat lands requiring careful reconnoitering, and until ■■merical superiority is attained through reinforcements, they would continue with probing actions to determine the enemy’s weak points. After the speech, PW’s 2ns Co was sent out to PUGOK, located 3 Km S of KWANCHON, arriving there at 1900 hrs the same day. Assuming that the unit would remain there for quite some time, and when POGOK did not produce ample food, the company commander told PW and others to go to YONGJIRI (CS4723) to look for rice.
120300 Jan 51, PW and 4 others departed PUGOK, arriving at YONGJIRI at 1300 hrs the same day. After finding some rice, PW’s detail rested because of fatigue.
