150th Div arrived at SUWON o/a 7 Jan 51. Here the Division was separated into Regiments (Disposition unknown). PW’s regt, 449th marched south and arrived at vicinity of YANGJI RI o/a 10 Jan 51. During their march the 3rd Bn was in the lead followed by the other two Bns.
The 7th Co CP was erected approximately 800 meters W of YANGJI RI with the 3rd Bn Hq 3 kms W of this CF and the 449th Hq 6 kms W of the Bn CP. The other two companies, the 8th and 9th of the 3rd Bn were deployed between the 7th Co CP and the 3rd Bn CP. The night of 11 Jan 51 PW and four others from the 3rd platoon were ordered by their platoon leader to go to YANGJU RI and observe enemy troops, tanks and aircraft. If any were observed they were to signal their unit with three rapid rifle shots. Besides them there were other sentries posted 400 meters apart. On 121700 Jan 51 PW’s post was attacked by enemy small arms. Due to severe firing, PW remained in his fox hole and was captured. PW believes that the others escaped.

b. Unit Organization:
The 50th Army was composed of the 148th, 149th and 150th Divs. Estimated strength was about 30,000 men. The 150th Div was composed of the 448th, 449th, 450th Regts, Medical, Signal, Engr, Security Bns and a propaganda platoon. Strength of the Divs was estimated at approx 9,000 men.

Strength of Bn was approx 400-500 men. The 7th Co was composed of 3 Rifle Plats and a 60mm Mortar unit (attached to the Co CP). Strength of other units was unknown, however, PW believed they were about the same.

The 3rd Bn was armed with 4 HMGs, 8 x 60mm Mortars and 15 LMGS. The 7th Co was armed with 6 LMGs (650-700 rds ea), 40-50 rifles (80 rds ea) and 4 grenades per man. According to PW, since entering Korea the 449th Regt has never been committed.

d. Food and Ammo Supply:
Since entering Korea 10 Nov 50, no supply of ammo was received. Food always came in from the rear by train or trucks, however, it was not considered sufficient for their unit, since there were times when food did not go around.
