2. ASSESSMENT:
PW cooperative. Reliability, fair.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. Chronology:
3 May 50: Inducted into the 571st Ind Unit, 2nd Bn, 3rd Co, 4th Plat at SINCH’ON-GUN (信川郡).
5 May 50: Arrived P’YONGYANG for basic training, After two and a half months of basic training, PW guarded the 65th Ordnance Depot, located near P’YONGYANG Station, until the latter part of Sep. During this time, 65th Ordnance Depot was bombed by UN Air Force and lost practically all the buildings.
1 Oct 50 - 19 Oct 50: Received further basic training.
27 Nov 50: 571st Ind Unit arrived MANPOJIN (滿浦鎭) near YALU River.
30 Nov 50: 571st Ind Unit was redesignated the 26th Brig, 5th Bn, Engr Plat.
1 Dec 50: 26th Brig departed MANP’OJIN. Arrived HUICH’ON (熙川) the following day.
4 Jan 51: 26th Brig proceeded to CHINNAMP’O (鎭南浦) via UNSAN (雲山), MYOHYANGSAN (妙香山), CHAJAK (自作), SUNCH’ON (順川), SOP’O (西逋), P’YONGYANG AND MAYON-RI (?).
7 Jan 51: Co of 67 men engaged security force at CHODO Island (猪島).
8 Jan 51: 26 men including the PW were captured.

b. Unit Organization and Strength:
T/O:
26th Brig was composed of 6 Bns. Bn T/O called for 720 men, however, there were actually only 400 or 500 men in each Bn.

c. Personalities:
CHA, Chong Ul (車鐘乙)(차종을); 26; Maj (少佐); 5th Bn, CO.
LEE, Yong Ju (李龍周)(이용주); 25; Lt (中尉); Plat Ldr.

d. Intentions:
26th Brig to defend the coastline of CHINNAMP’O.

e. Morale:
Morale was low, because of lack of weapons and food. PW received meals only twice a day.

f. Replacements:
None.

g. Supply:
Each man received 75 rds of ammo for small arms. PW believes there were some 82 mm mortars and 45 mm mortars.
