2. ASSESSMENT:
Average intelligence, cooperative. Reliability - Fair.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. Chronology:
25 Aug 50 - Inducted into NKA. Assigned to the 5719th Unit, 3rd Bn, 10th Rifle Co at P'YONGYANG. Received 10 days basic training.
5 Sep 50 - 5719th Unit moved to SINUIJU due to vicious air attack received while in P'YONGYANG. Trained in combat tactics for 10 days.
5 Oct 50 - Entire 5719th Unit moved across the YALU to MANCHURIA via ANTUNG, MUNDEN and TUNGHWA. Arrived in MANP'OJIN (滿浦鎭) 10 days later.
10 Nov 50 - After approx 25 days of recuperation in MANP'OJIN, the men in 5719th Unit joined the 26th Brigade as it was being activated.
25 Dec 50 - Spearheaded by the CCF, 26th Brigade arrived intact in P'YONGYANG via KANGGYE (江界), HUICH'ON (熙川) and PUKSINHYON (北新峴). They stayed in P'YONGYANG for 15 days.
5 Jan 51 - 5th Rifle Bn of the 26th Brigade arrived CHINNAMP'O (鎭南浦) ordered to defend shores from any landing.
7 Jan 51 - Surrounded on CHODO (猪島) Island, PW and 27 of the 68 men were captured by the ROK troops.

b. Unit Organization and Strength:
Present Strength:
26th Brigade - about 3,000 men - consists of 5 Bns.
5th Bn - Approx 500 men.
Arty Btry - Approx 80 men.
Rifle Co - Approx 120 men.

c. Personalities:

d. Code Name:
Arty Btry - TAEDONG River (大洞江).

f. Disposition:
5th Bn Hq was located approx 200m N of CHINNAMP'O Shore 6 Jan 51.
Hearsay - 26th Brigade Hq was situated in the outskirts of P'YONGYANG.

g. Morale:
Morale was low because of frequent air attacks and battles and since food, clothing and equipment were scarce.

h. Evacuation and Treatment of Wounded:
There was an aide-man (EM) assigned to each Co, who with the aid of rifleman, transported the wounded on stretchers to any convenient building in sight. There, Bn lied officers treated the wounded and sent the critical cases to rear hospitals. Houses where wounded were taken, ordinarily were about 8 km from the frontlines.

i. Supply:
Each man carried 100 rds ammo for small arms, 4 days rations, and one hand grenade. Ammo depot (small arms) believed to be ordinarily 8 km to the rear of frontlines. Ammo transported by ox carts.

j. Weapons Feared Most:
Strafing.
Fragmentation Bomb.
Artillery.

4. GENERAL:
a. UN PWs:
O/a 20 Dec 50, PW saw about 50 American PWs marching north about 8 km north of P'YONGYANG at night.
Hearsay - These PWs were marching to MANCHURIA. PW noticed one wounded man carried by a fellow PW.
