1. PERSONAL DETAILS:

2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was cooperative and talked freely.
Information seemed fairly reliable.
However, routes and dates given by PW were uncertain due to his travelling in a foreign country after crossing the YALU River.
PW appeared in good physical condition, wearing the winter uniform and shoes which were issued to him when the unit departed TEIPIN for KOREA.

3. T/O & E AND STRENGTH:
38th Army composed of 112th and two other Div’s.
112th Division composed of 334th, 335th, and 336th Regts Mountain Artillery Bn (size and caliber, unk) and other units.
336th Regt composed of 3 Riffle Battalions Hvy Mortar Co, Guard Co and Medical Co.
Hvy Mortar Co composed of 3 Hvy Mortar Platoons.
1st Hvy Mortar Plat was composed of 3 Hvy Mortar Sqds.
One mortar squad consisted of approximately 12 men.

 Remarks:
  2 x 120mm Mortars were destroyed by UN air attack at KUJANG DONG (球場洞) (KE2934), Nov 50. Approx 30 men in the Mortar Co were KIA.
  6 x 22mm Mortars were left in MANCHURIA, (location unk).

4. PERSONAL AND UNIT HISTORY:
PW was inducted 20 Nov 47 into the CNA at SHEN YANG-HSTEN (瀋陽縣). He was assigned to the National Guard (195th Div, 584th Regt, 2nd Bn, 4th Co, 2nd Plat) and served with the same unit until Aug 48 when he was released.
In Aug 48 PW was conscripted into the 4th Field Army, 38th Army, 112th Div, 336th Regt, Hvy Mortar Co at SHEN YANG-HSIEN (瀋陽縣).
With the 38th Army units, PW departed from SHEN YANG-HSIEN in the latter part of Jan 49 and passed through the following places: PEIPING (北平), TIENTSIN (天津), KUANG-HSI (廣西) and arrived at HONAN (河南), d/u Jan 50.
The 38th Army fought against the CNA for approx 6 months while at HONAN (河南).
In Aug 50, the 38th Army travelled from PUSAN passing through ANTUNG (安東), remaining here for approximately 20 days and arrived at TIENLING (鉄嶺), remaining here for approximately 2 months.
The entire 38th Army departed for KOREA from YIENTING c/a 24 Oct 50, passing SINGEANG, YUNG-HIA (通化) crossing the YALU River c/a 30 Oct 50 and arrived at an unknown place after travelling approximately 500 km into KOREA. Travel from TIEHLING to an unknown place was by train. Point of entry into KOREA was unknown.
From this point the PW’s unit marched southward and was engaged in its first battle with UN forces in the vicinity of KUJANG DONG (KE2934), Nov 50.
From KUJANG DONG, PW’s Mortar Co, along with the 336th Regt, advanced Southward.
The 1st Bn of the 336th Regt was engaged in a second battle against UN troops on the 38th Parallel. PW did not known the location and date.
After travelling 7 days south from the 38th Parallel, the Mortar Co arrived at an unknown location. While in the area, PW with 4 comrades left the company to obtain vegetables. During this period, they were attacked by UN troops. Two were shot and PW with another PW were captured within 2 km from the PW’s Mortar Co area by ROK troops on 16 Jan 51. (PW’s tag read that he was captured at MONDON-NI (CS523-290) by 6th ROK Div).

5. LOCATION AND ACTIVITIES OF UNITS:
At the time of his capture on 26 Jan 51, the PW’s Hvy Mortar Co and the entire 336th Regt units were resting on top of the mountain (location and activities unknown).
Objective and mission of the 336th Regt were not known.

7. SIGNAL INFORMATION:
Runners were used for communication between the PW’s Mortar Co and the Regiment.
Mounted messengers were used above the regiment levels.

8. REPLACEMENTS:
PW could not offer any information as to hos or when casualties are replaced.
The source of replacements and system of replacing losses was unknown.
PW did not know anything of units being withdrawn for the replacement of casualties.

9. FOOD AND AMMO SUPPLIES:
After crossing the 38th Parallel and prior to his capture 16 Jan 51, food because very scare throughout the 366th Regt. PW believed that the main supply line from the rear was completely out off by constant UN air attacks.
Since then, food had been confiscated from villages as they advanced.
Approximately 20 rds of 120mm mortar were on hand for the PW’s Heavy Mortar Company as of 16 Jan 51.
PW stated that the Hvy Mortar Co received 80 rds of 120mm mortar ammo and food supply at KUJANG DONG (XE2934) d/u Nov 50.

10. MORALE:
Morale of PW’s Mortar Company was low due to long hard marches, inadequate food and constant UN air attacks after crossing the YALU River.

11. PSYCHOLOGICAL WARFARE:
