PW was frank and very cooperative. However he was not too familiar with the military service.
Information appears reliable.

  PW did not see any mine detectors; as far as PW knows he did not see any mines being laid.

4. LOCATION AND ACTIVITIES OF UNITS: (as of 15 Jan 51)
According to PW’s Plat Ldr, the 10th Division’s mission was to attack PUSAN (ER 0183) and on their way, the unit would disrupt telephone lines, trains and disorganize the UN forces.
Before PW deserted his unit 15 Jan 51, he heard that the 29th Regt was going to ANDONG (DR 7846).
He saw 1,000 CCF troops of an unknown unit with 20 horses, M-1’s, and 3 grenades per man 21 Dec 50 at HWACH’ON.
This CCF unit’s movement and mission was unknown.

5. PERSONAL AND UNIT HISTORY:
Conscripted into the 1st Sqd, 1st Platoon, 4th Co, 1st Bn, 29th Inf Regt, 10th Div, II Corps at TONGGU MYON when the 10th Div passed through his home town on 14 Dec 50. Received no training.
While traveling from TONGGU MYON (CT 0068), POMAK NI (CT 9766) to SANG-RI, the following route was followed:

7. REPLACEMENT:
PW stated that he was one of the 500 men (ages 15 -37) who were conscripted into the 10th Div when it passed thru TONGGU MYON.
PW also saw 90 conscripts 2 Km West of SANG-RI being inducted into the 10th Div.

8. FOOD AND AMMO SUPPLIES:
PW was not issued a weapon; nor did he see weapons and ammo being distributed to the men.
Food was acquired at whatever town or village they entered.

9. MORALE:
PW stated that the morale in his unit was low because they were strafed by UN aircraft and were always on long marches at night.
70% of his unit were conscripts who had not received any training.

10. SIGNAL COMMUNICATION:
