1. PERSONAL DETAILS:

2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was a ROK soldier who was captured by the NKA and pressed into its service. He did not know if he was in the NKA, because he carried no weapon, and only followed the unit performing manual duties.
PW was very unobservant and information is considered to be only fairly reliable.

PW saw one HMG and one 82mm Mortar but he did not know the unit to which they were assigned.

4. LOCATION AND ACTIVITIES OF UNIT:
PW did not know the mission of his unit but he heard from the Plat Ldr that this Regt was to conduct guerrilla warfare against the UN forces.

5. PERSONAL AND UNIT HISTORY:
Inducted on Nov 50 into the ROK 32nd Regt, 3rd Bn, 11th Co, 1st Plat, 2nd Sqd at SEOUL.
Captured by the NKA 29th Regt 12 Km N of KAP’YONG (CS6988) 16 Dec 50. Placed into the NKA 27th Regt by force 27 Dec 50. Between 16 Dec and 27 Dec 50, PW was indoctrinated for 4 days. HE was not given the privilege of returning to South KOREA or volunteering for the NKA; he was forced to join the unit.
Places travelled through from the time he was placed into the 27th Regt till the time captured by US troops were unknown.

6. FOOD AND AMMO SUPPLIES:
PW often saw food and ammo being distributed to the men in various villages. Names of village unknown.

7. MORALE:
The morale in the unit was high because the North Korean soldiers said that they will eventually win. They did not explain the reasons to PW.

8. UN PW’S AND ROK PW’S:
PW did not see any US PW’s; however, he believes there were some South Korean troops (PW’s) in the NKA units.

9. PSYCHOLOGICAL WARFARE:

a. PW voluntarily surrendered to the US troops because he was wounded.
2. Did you see any United Nations leaflets or hear any loudspeaker broadcasts?
a. PW did not see any leaflets while he was in ROK or NKA units.
