2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was very cooperative and talked freely.
Information is limited because PW was a cook and was not interested in the Army.
Information seems reliable.

3. T/O & E AND STRENGTH:
The 50th Army composed of the 148th, 149th, and 150th Divs.
The 150th Division composed of the 447th, 448th, and 449th Regts, Signal Bn, Engineer Bn, Medical Bn, and Guard Bn.
449th Regt composed of 3 Rifle Bns, Signal Co, Engineer Co, Medical Co and Guard Company.
The 3rd Rifle Battalion was composed of 3 Rifle Cos, and a HMG Co.
Each rifle Co composed of 3 Rifle Plats and a 60mm Mortar Squad.
7th Rifle Co, 3rd Bn, 449th Regt.

The 150th Division was never engaged in ground combat since arrival in KOREA (as of 10 Jan 51).

4. LOCATION AND ACTIVITIES OF UNIT:
100700 Jan 51, the 449th Regiment was deployed approximately 4 Km West of YANGJI RI (CS4822).
PW has no knowledge of any mission of the 449th Regiment.
During the night of 9 Jan 51, the 150th Division passed through SUWON (CS2428). The 3 Regiments of the division separated after passing through SUWON. Destinations of the other Regiments of the 150th Division unknown.

5. PERSONAL AND UNIT HISTORY:
PW was inducted into the CNA during Sep 47 at SHANTUNG SHENG (山東省) and was assigned to the CNA 2nd Army, 76th Division Headquarters in SZECHUAN SHENG (四川省) as an orderly.
PW captured by the CCF 50th Army, 150th Division at SZECHUAN SHENG Oct 49 and was assigned to the CCF 50th Army.
On or about 30 Jan 50, the 50th Army moved to HUPEI SHENG, T’IENMEN HSIEN (湖北省 天門縣) where the entire army engaged in farming.
On or about 30 Aug 50, the 50th Army moved to ANTUNG HSIEN (安東縣). On 25 Oct 50, the 50th Army arrived in ANTUNG.
On or about 30 Oct 50, the entire 50th Army crossed the YALU River from ANTUNG into SINUIJU (XE 1839). The 150th Division, 50th Army remained in SINUIJU for approximately 15 days. The rest of the 50th Army departed SINUIKU o/a 30 Oct 50 for unknown destinations.
On or about 14 Nov 50, the 150th Division departed SINUIJU for CHARYONGWAN, arriving there o/a 15 Nov 50.
On or about 30 Nov 50, the 150th Division departed CHARYONGWAN (XE 4712) and arrived at CHONGJU (XD 9095) o/a 3 Dec 50. On or about 8 Dec 50, the 150th Division departed CHONGJU and marched southward through P’YONGYANG (o/a 14 Dec 50) and SEOUL (date unknown) and arrived at SUWON (CS 2428) 9 Jan 51.
During the night of 9 Jan 51, the 449th Regt, 150th Division marched eastward from SUWON and arrived at a place 4 Km West of YANGJI RI (CS 4822) 10 Jan 51.
PW deserted his unit 100700 Jan 51 and surrendered to the ROK 6th Division 111800 Jan 51 at YANGJI RI.

6. PERSONALITIES:
LIU, Hsueh Lin (劉學林), CO, 3rd Bn, 449th Regt.

7. REPLACEMENTS:
The 150th Division has never received any replacements since arriving in KOREA.
PW could not offer any information as to how or when casualties are replaced.
The source of replacements and system of replacing losses was unknown.
PW did not know anything of units being withdrawn for the replacement of casualties.

8. FOOD AND AMMO SUPPLIES:
Food was transported by train to an unknown place North of P’YONGYANG. From there ox carts and trucks were used for transport further southward. PW did not know the supply route.
Food was regularly supplied. Troops usually ate 2 meals a day. Meals consisted of rice and millet.
The 150th Div never was issued ammo since arriving in KOREA.

9. MORALE:
The morale of the men in the 150th Div was low because approximately 80% were former Nationalist troops and they did not want to fight.

10. SIGNAL INFORMATION:
Telephones were utilized for communication at Battalion and higher commands.
Runners were used at lower echelons.
PW states that 3 shots fired rapidly signified that the enemy was approaching.

11. PSYCHOLOGICAL WARFARE:
a. Did you surrender voluntarily? If so, why?
a. PW surrendered voluntarily because he was always hungry and was tired of marching daily.
b. Did you see any United Nations leaflets, or hear any loudspeaker broadcasts?
a. No.
c. Can you describe what they said?
a. Negative.
d. What was your reaction to them?
a. Negative.
e. Did you hear other soldiers discuss leaflets or broadcast? What did they say or do?
a. Negative.

12. PASSIVE AIR DEFENSE:
PW states that the troops of 150th Division never slept in houses. They usually stayed in mountainous area during the day to avoid UN air strikes.
