2. ASSESSMENT:
Information is limited because PW was unable to remember dates and names of villages through which he passed. Although PW was wounded in his leg, he seemed to be in good physical condition.
Information seems reliable.

3. T/O & E AND STRENGTH: (As of 10 Jan 51)
The 43rd Division was composed of 66th, 67th, 68th Regts.
Each Regiment composed of 3 Rifle Battalions.
Each Battalion composed of 3 Rifle Companies, 1 Mortar Company, 1 Signal Platoon, and 1 Recon Platoon.
Each Company composed of 3 Rifle Platoons, and 1 Supply Squad.
Each Platoon was composed of 3 Rifle squads.

4. LOCATION AND ACTIVITIES OF UNIT:
The 43rd Div, 67th Regiment Headquarters was located in an unidentified village 4 Km south of WONJU 10 Jan 51.
The 1st Battalion and 2nd Battalion of the 67th Regiment advanced 3 Km south of where the 67th Regiment Headquarters was located, 9 Jan 51. These 2 battalions were engaged with US troops for approximately one hour 9 Jan 51. After the engagement, PW’s unit retreated to an unknown location. No information on adjacent units.

5. PERSONAL AND UNIT HISTORY:
PW was conscripted into the NKA 109th Unit at POUN (CR 8537) 3 Sep 50. Received 13 days training at MUMUI (CR 6541). 109th unit left MUMUI for SAMDUNG (BU 5620) 20 Sep 50.
PW was unable to trace the retreat route from MUMUI to SAMDUNG because travel was only at night and along mountain trails.
After leaving MUMUI on 20 Sep 50, they travelled along the SOBAEK Mountain Range passing INJE (DT 2813), SOHWA (DT3344), ICHON (DT 1662) and KOKSAN (BT 9795), arriving at SAMDUNG, d/u Nov 50.
While at SAMDUNG, PW’s unit and other units were reorganized into the 43rd Division during late Nov 50. The 43rd Division underwent basic infantry training for 15 days at SAMDUNG. The 43rd Division began moving, following the CCF (units unknown), during early Dec 50.

6. PERSONALITIES:

7. FOOD AND AMMO SUPPLIES:
A four day supply of food was carried by the 43rd Division personnel. Food was confiscated from villagers in the advance. Food was adequate.
There were no regular ammo supplies. There was only one issue of ammo to the Div approximately 28 Km south of SAMDUNG. This ammo was from a supply buried during their retreat and which the UN troops had failed to discover.

8. MORALE:
The morale in 1st Battalion, 67th Regiment, was quite low because of forced, difficult marches.

9. US PW’s:
4 Jan 51, PW observed three US PW’s walking along a railroad track 10 Km south of WONJU.
The disposition of these UN PW’s was unknown.
