ATIS INTERROGATION REPORT NO 3003　26 January 1951

FIELD REPORT (24 LDI - 0162)　22 January 1951

01 Jan 51 subject captured with approx 100 other ROK troops by CCF troops at SANGGI-DONG. Subject and other PWs taken to PW Enclosure at YONCHON CT3118 arriving 5 Jan 51 via CHORWON CT4334. Heard approx 600 ROKA PWs here. No US PWs observed. No work of any kind done by PWs. 132200 Jan 51, 25 PWs were released because they stated their families were having troubles at a hearing. Subject was told by CCF guards after 25 men were released that remaining PWs were to receive six months training and then be assigned to NK Army. 132300 Jan 51 PW and 18 others escaped and moved towards SEOUL. Enroute 13 men separated and remaining six arrived SEOUL 162400 Jan 51. Enroute observed approx 50 CCF troops in groups of two’s and three’s. 170900 Jan 51 departed SEOUL along and arrived ICHON CS6226 220930 Jan 51. Enroute observed approx 200 CCF troops in groups of two’s and three’s armed with small arms and automatic weapons. Observed no tanks, arty pieces, or vehicles. Picked up 2 km S of ICHON 221000 Jan 51 by Div Arty.
