2. ASSESSMENT:
PW appeared to be in good physical condition but below average intelligence. PW was engaged in farming prior to service. Information obtained is considered fairly reliable. Recommended for further interrogation.

3. CHRONOLOGY:
42nd Army crossed the 38th parallel 30 Dec 50 with the 38th Army spearheading the drive. Approx 40 km after crossing parallel 38th Army took a different route. Subsequent route of 42nd Army u/k. PW’s Bn (400 men) arrived approx 2½ km E of YANGPYONG o/a 12 Jan 51 to haul rice back to regt (377th). Each man carried 25 lbs of rice and marched for three nights N. PW believes Regt is presently located same location. 3rd Bn returned to the same location (2½ km E of YANGPYONG) 180230 Jan. PW has no knowledge of location of 38th Army or whether the 42nd Army intends to reenforce the 38th Army. Other regts of the 126 Div u/k to PW. 201800 Jan PW and five others upon orders from Bn CO proceeded to CHONYANG to procure rice. They were told to ask men of 125th Div who were at CHONYANG for the rice. Outskirts of CHONYANG PW observed approx two Cos of CCF traveling N, hauling rice. At CHONYANG six men detail rested at vacant villager home. Upon awaking four had already departed. PW and one other was captured approx ½ hr later.

42nd Army: 124th, 125th, and 126th Divs
126th Div: 376th Regt (Code No. 107)
377th Regt (Code No. 108)

3rd Bn of 377th Regt: 7th Co (Code No. 679)

9th Co (Code No. 681)
One Arty Bn attached to 126th Div, strength 500 men. Wpns and location u/k.
7th Co: 100 men; 3x81mm mortars, 5 HMGs
8th Co: 100 men; wpns u/k
9th Co: approx 90 men; 3x60mm mortars, 6 LMGs, remainder rifles
Ammo: Approx 60-70 rds per rifle, 800-1,000 rds per LMG were issued prior to crossing 38th parallel. Supply point u/k.
42nd Army and two other armies comprise the 12th Army Group. 38th and 60th Armies in SK, location and strength u/k.

5. INTENTIONS:
PW has no idea whether his Bn or Div intends to advance or remain at present location.

7. MORALE:
Morale comparatively low. PW stated approx 50% were former Nationalist Army soldiers in his Bn. They do not desire to fight and also are fed up with hardship. Did not read leaflets nor hear broadcast. Told by Bn CO that UN troops kill their captives.
