2. ASSESSMENT:
Intelligent, cooperative. Reliability – Good.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. Chronology:
20 Aug 50: Inducted into North Korean Security Forces at SUNCH’ON (順川) as a private. Received 20 days training.
10 Sep 50: Transferred to P’YONGYANG (平壤) and after 10 days, started to retreat.
20 Oct 50: Arrived in KANGGYE (江界). This Security Force became part of the North Korean Army.
The 106th Regt (900 troops) became part of 2nd Corps. Re-equipped with Russian rifles, SMGs and LMGs. Half of them got winter clothes.
Nov 50: 40km south of WONSAN (元山), PW was wounded by accidental discharge of his friend’s weapon. Separated from his unit because of a month’s rest. Placed into the 7th Regt, 27th Div, V Corps and started south.
25 Dec 50: Crossed the 38th parallel via HWACH’ON (樺川).
4 Jan 51: Arrived HONGCH’ON (■川) and started for WONJU (原州). No combat.
7 Jan 51: Arrived WONJU at 0400 hours. Intended to occupy the city. Engaged US troops for 2 hours. His Company CO was killed and his regiment lost about 50% of its personnel PI/captured on the vicinity of WONJU RR station.

c. Unit History:
Original organization of 27th Div, V Corps unknown. This Div consisted of 3 infantry regiments (7th, 32nd and one unknown).

d. Disposition:
When last seen (7 Jan 51) 27th Div was in the rear of the 7th Regt and 7th Regt was 6km north of WONJU.

e. Intentions:
27th Div was to attack WONJU 7 Jan 51.

f. Morale:
Morale was low because of the cold, shortage of winter clothes and air attack. Usually they slept by day and marched at night, so all of them caught cold.

g. Treatment of Wounded:
Regt aid stations were located approx 3km behind the lines. All wounded, light and serious, were treated there, and later were accommodated in farmers’ houses in the rear.

h. Supply:
Each man carried 2 or 3 days rations and 70 or 80 rounds ammunition for M1891/30 rifle. Mortar shells were transported by hand. No ammunition depots.
