2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was cooperative and answered freely during interrogation. Information is considered reliable. He is recommended for further interrogation, he may have more detailed tactical information.

3. TO/E, DISPOSITION:
a. PW was in the 40th Army which consisted of the 118th, 119th, and the 120th Divs, each with an approximate strength of 12,000 men. The 120th Div was composed of the 358th, 359th, and 360th Regts, each with an approximate strength of 2,200. The 359th Regt consisted of 3 Bns of 600 men each. The battalions each had 3 Rifle Cos and one combined HMG & Mort Co. Each Co (with 160 men) was composed of 3 Rifle Plats and one 60mm Mort Plat.
b. On 25 Nov 50, the 5th and 6th Co of the 2nd Bn crossed the CHONGCH’ON River at a point just west of SINHUNG DONG (BV-5032) and was immediately engaged by the enemy. When the 5th and 6th Co and one Mixed Co departed, the 4th Co remained behind in the Bn CP area which was located 600 meters west of SINHUNG DONG.
PW stated that on 241900I Nov 50, the 40th Army departed from a point 12 km North of UNSAN (YE03928). Approximately 4 km East of UNSAN the 358th Regt marched south and the 359th Regt marched southeast. The 360th Regt came as far as dividing point, however, PW does not know what direction they went from there. PW believes that the Regt CP is come place between the place where the 358th Regt and the 359th Regt was separated and the present Bn CP.
PW stated that the mission of the 2nd Bn was to cut the MSR and to annihilate the enemy by surrounding SINHUNG DONG. However, first they were to take the ground located just west of the town (BV-5222).
c. PW does not know the whereabouts of the Army of Div Hqs.
d. PW did not know of any defense position or lines.
e. Prior to crossing the CHONGCH’ON River, the 2nd Bn had two 81mm US Mortars with 20 rounds apiece, nine 60mm Mortars with 20 rounds apiece, one 3.5 Bazooka, one 2.37 US Bazooka with approx 20 rounds, six HMGs with 1,500 rounds each, and eighteen LMG’s with 1,000 rounds of ammo each.
f. All replacements of arms and ammo came from CHINA, however, he did not know how much.
Food was confiscated from the farmers.
The CCF could not fight too well during rainy days because their winter uniforms are not water resistance, and being cotton padded, the water soaks in.
g. The 40th Army was best army in guerrilla warfare compared with other units. The 118th Div was the best organized and had the best fighters because the majority of them are communists and because they have been in the CCF for a long time.
