2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was cooperative but lacked information. Information fairly reliable.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
4 Jul 50: Conscripted at P’YONGYANG assigned to II Corps, 9th Div, 1st Regt, 1st Bn Mortar Co.
8 Jul 50: Without training, unit departed from P’YONGYANG for SEOUL by way of SARIWON and MUNSAN (汶山). Arrived in SEOUL o/a 8 Aug 50.
O/a 4 Sep 50: At SEOUL, PW was with the 34th Brig when retreated to ICHON (伊川) north of 38th Parallel.
O/a 6 Nov 50: The 33th Brig, 34th Brig and the 6th Div were reconstituted as the 8th Ind Regt at ICHON. This Regt roamed the mountains in the vicinity of ICHON for about a month.
O/a 8 Dec 50: 8th Ind Regt moved towards HWACH’ON and arrived o/a 24 Dec 50. Between that time the 8th Ind Regt was redesignated as the 6th Regt of the 2nd Div, which had its Div Hq in HONGCH’ON. Enroute to HONGCH’ON the 6th Regt encountered the ROK units near the 38th Parallel and here PW was captured 27 Dec 50.

Communication:
An officer was as courier between the Regt and Bn. And an NCO between Bn and Co. Only when the distance between the Regt and Bn, was great were field telephone used.

4. GENERAL:
Morale:
Due to lack of winter clothing and lack of food morale in PW’s Unit was low.
Did you surrender? If so, why?
PW was captured by ROK unit.
Did you see any UN leaflets or hear any loudspeaker broadcasts?
O/a 15 Sep 50 while retreating from SEOUL saw UN leaflets.
Can you describe what they said?
The leaflets said that INCHON was in UN forces hands.
What was your reaction to them?
After reading it, PW thought of deserting but was afraid of being killed by NK troops.
