PW was fairly cooperative however his recollection of dates poor. Information fairly reliable.
Chronology:
5 Aug 50: PW was inducted into the 79th Regt, in SARIWON. PW did not receive any training.
Early Sep 50: PW’s unit left SARIWON. Three days later 76th Regt bombed by US planes near SEOUL. After his unit scattered PW deserted with two others and fled north.
17 Nov 50: PW with other two were captured by 6th Div at ECHANG and for about three days PW dug air-raid shelters.
Early Dec 50: PW was transferred to 15th Regt. Approx week later his unit arrived at PYOLHA (別河) near KANGGYE (江界) to receive clothing for 6th Div. They were issued sufficient clothes for all man in 6th Div. His unit remained at PYOLHA approx 12 days.
12 Dec 50: PW’s unit left PYOLHA. Five days later 15th Regt arrived 80 km south of PYOLHA. They were told by the CO to unload the clothing and prepare for combat. Two days later his unit arrived at TOKCHONG. For 8 days PW received basic training.
6 Jan 51: 15th Regt arrived at WONJU to engage US forces. PW captured.
Unit Organization and Strength:
6th Div was composed of 3 Regts - 657th, 659th and 661st. Each Regt composed of 3 Bns. There were Recon Plat, Antitank Plat, Communication Plat, Engr Plat, and Medic Plat directly under each Regt. PW also stated that Communication Bn, Engr Bn and Recon Co were directly under each Div. Each Regt consisted of 1,600 men.

Knowledge of other Unit:
PW heard from other PW that 38th Div and 27th Div were near WONJU. PW also heard from the CO that II Corps will attempt to advance toward CHILI Mountain and V Corps will advance toward HONSONG, HONGCHON, WONJU and CHUNJU.
Morale:
Unit’s morale was very low, because insufficient supply and equipment.
