2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was cooperative but very unobservant. Information seems reliable.

3. T/O & E AND STRENGTH (As of 9 Dec 50):
The 9th Div was composed of 3 rifle Regts (1st, 2nd and 3rd), 1 Arty Bn and 1 Trans Bn.
(No detailed information concerning the Rifle Regts and Trans Bn).
The Arty Bn was composed of 3 Arty Btrys.
The 1st Btry was composed of 1 Command Plat and 2 Gun Plats.
The Command Plat was composed of 1 Liaison Sqd and 1 Recon Sqd.

PW heard that the Arty Bn was to be issued 12 x 105 mm Howitzers (US) at an unknown location in the near future.

4. LOCATION AND ACTIVITIES OF UNITS:
1st Btry of the Arty Bn was located on a mountain (approx 20 Km Sout of YONCHON) on the 38th Parallel.
The mission of the 1st Btry was to maintain observation on UN Troops in this vicinity, after arriving on the mountain 2 Dec 50.
1st Btry was attacked by ROK Troops 8 Dec 50. During the attack, the entire 1st Btry was disorganized.
PW did not know the dispositions and activities of other units.

5. PERSONAL AND UNIT HISTORY:
PW inducted 19 Jul 50 at SARIWON.
Without receiving any training, PW was assigned to the 7th Div, Arty Regt, 3rd Bn, 9th Btry, 2nd Plat, 2nd Sqd.
After the 7th Div was disorganized at SANGJU on 10 Sep 50, the 3rd Bn was integrated into the 9th Division.
In Sep 50, the 9th Div had retreated northward, through KUMCHON, TAEJON, SOBAEK SAN, TAEBAEK SAN and arrived at YANGGU in Nov 50.
After the 9th Div was reorganized in YANGGU, the 1st and 2nd Btry's of the Arty Bn departed from YANGGU o/a 15 Nov 50 on foot and arrived at a mountain located approx 20 Km South of YONCHON along the 38th Parallel on 2 Dec 50.

6. FOOD AND AMMO SUPPLIES:
Troops of the 1st Company obtained their food from nearby villages because of the lack of food supplies from the rear.
Troops had not been issued any small ammo since Sep 50. Average number of rounds per man was approx 80.

7. MORALE:
Morale of 1st Company was very low due to the lack of food and constant UN air attacks. Furthermore equipment was very scarce.

8. PSYCHOLOGICAL WARFARE:
a. Did you surrender voluntarily?

b. Did you see any UN Leaflets or hear any loudspeaker broadcasts?
No
c. Did you hear other soldiers discuss leaflets or broadcasts? What did they say or do?
