1. PERSONAL DETAILS:

2. ASSESSMENT:
PW appeared to be in good physical condition time of interrogation. PW was employed as a RR guard prior to entering the service. PW was fairly cooperative and of average intelligence. Interrogation was conducted through a Korean interpreter who has knowledge of Chinese and evaluation of information should be assessed accordingly. Recommended for further interrogation.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. Chronology.
PW was inducted into the CCF on 20 Dec 49 at SZECHWANSHENG, SHEHUNG-HSIEN (四川省 射洪縣) and assigned directly to the 50th Army, 149th Div, without receiving any basic training. The 50th Army arrived at HUPEH-SHENG, CHINGSHAN-HSIEN (湖北省 支山縣) in Feb 50 and was engaged in agricultural work for approx. seven (7) months. The 447th Regt, 149th Div, then marched to HUAYUAN (花園) arriving after five days of marching, then entrained for TUNGPEH LIAOTUNG-SHENG, HSIAN-HSIEN (東北 東省 西安縣) arriving approx. 10 days later. The 44th Regt remained at this location for approx. 15days, then entrained for ANTUNG. The 447th Regt remained at ANTUNG for three days and crossed the YALU River o/a 30 Oct 50. The 447th Regt marched to UIJU(YE3050) and continued marching for two nights and arrived at SAKCHU (YE7373). The 447th Regt then marched to CHARYONGWAN (XE4514) via NAMKWANGDONG (朗關洞). The 447th Regt then marched to SAMSONGRI (山成里) via NAMSO MYON (XE7658). PW’s unit then marched to YONGDONG NI Hill 227 (XD9997) arriving on 25 Nov 50. PW was captured at this location 26 Nov 50. PW stated that he did not hear nor observe the other Regts comprising the 149th Div after crossing the border into Korea. The above itinerary was verified by documents found on PW.

b. Unit Organization and Strength.
The 447th Regt was composed of 3 Inf Bns. The 3rd Bn was composed of 3 Rifle Co, one HMG Co, one Signal Plat, and one Medical Plat.

c. Equipment.
The HMG Co had 5 HMGs. PW heard that each rifle Co had 3 light mortars (size u/k) and rifles. PW did not observe any recoilless weapons or rocket launchers in the Regt.

d. Personalities.
WANG, Hung-li (王洪浬) (Rank u/k) Bn Comdr, 3rd Bn, 447th Regt, 149th Div, 50th Army

e. Armor and Artillery.
PW did not observe any tanks or artillery pieces in his Regt.

f. Morale and Propaganda.
PW stated that the morale in his unit was fair. PW did not see any propaganda leaflets nor did he hear any broadcasts from planes.

4. GENERAL:
a. Food and Ammo Supplies.
Food supply was adequate. PW’s unit ate an average of two meals per day. Status of ammo u/k to PW.

5. REMARKS:
The following documents were found on the PW.
One notebook containing songs, poems, extracts from news papers re 4th Field Army CG, LIN, Piao (personal history) and Chinese ambassadors in foreign countries. Also geography note of various countries.
One letter to PW from his uncle addressed as follows:
“4th Field Army, 50th Army, 49th Div, 447 th Regt, 3rd Bn, MG Co.”
The above notebook also contains itinerary taken by PW after he entered Korea.
The above documents were processed and enclosed with the Interrogation Report accompanying PW.
