1. PERSONAL DETAILS:

2. ASSESSMENT:
PW appeared to be in good physical condition at time of interrogation. PW was a farmer prior to being inducted into the Chinese Communist Army. PW was cooperative and of average intelligence. Interrogation was conducted through a Korean interpreter who has knowledge of Chinese, and evaluation of information obtained should be assessed accordingly. Recommended for further interrogation.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. Chronology.
PW was inducted into the Chinese Communist Army at PINGKNAG (平康) in Jan 50 and was assigned to the 50th Army 149th Div, 47th Regt, 1st Bn, 1st Co. PW received approx. one (1) month of basic training at PINGKNAG. PW’s unit departed PINGKNAG and arrived at HUPEH in Feb 50. For approx. six months, PW’s unit remained at this location repairing a cancel and ongoing in farming work. The following two months, the 50th Army participated in maneuver at SZECHWAN (四川). The 50th Army then returned to PINGKNAG by train arriving o/a 3 Oct 50. O/a 12 Oct 50, PW’s unit departed PINGKANG by train and arrived at ANTUNG 14 Oct 50. On 15 Oct 50, the 149th Div of the 50th Army crossed the border into Korea. Date of crossing of the 148th, & 149th Divs u/k to PW. After crossing the border, PW’s unit headed towards SE on food and arrived at an u/k location. Troops movements were done during the night only. After crossing the border, PW heard from his Co Comdr that the 148th and 150th Divs are also in Korea. Up to 24 Nov 50, the 149th Div was constantly on the move and was never in contact with the enemy.

b. Unit Organization and Strength.
PW stated that from 14 Oct 50, the 50th Army, 149th Div, 27th Regt, 1st Bn, 1st Co, 2nd Plat, 4th Sqd was also known as the 57th PU (部), 2nd TATUI (大隊), 3rd CHUNGTUI (中隊), 1st CHUTUI (區隊), 10th FENTUI (分隊), 2nd SIAOTUI (小隊), 4th PAN (班). The 148th Div was also known as the 1st TATUI (大隊) and the 150th Div as the 3rd TATUI (大隊). The 50th Army consisted of the 148th, 149th, &150th. The 149th Div consisted of the 45th, 46th, & 47th Regts. Each Regt consisted of 3 Bns. Each Bn consisted of 3 Rifle Cos and 1 HMS Co.
Strength of the 50th Army, 149th Div & 47th Regt u/k to PW. Each HMG Co was composed of approx. 110 men.

c. Equipment.
The HMG Co had 6 HMGs. Each Bn had 9 mortars (approx. 50mm) (3 in each Co). No other heavy weapons were observed by PW. The above weapons were brought from China.

d. Communication.
Telephones were the only type of communication equipment observed by PW. Messengers were also used for communications.

e. Personalities:
LIU, Su-je (phonetic) Rank u/k Co CO, HMG Co, 1st Bn, 47 Regt

f. Morale.
PW stated that the morale of his unit was low and that majority of the men have no desire to fight.

4. GENERAL:
a. Food and Ammo Supplies.
PW stated that food was sufficient and man were fad three (3) times a day. Prior to crossing the border, 1,000 rds of ammo were issued to each MG. No additional ammo was received after crossing the border.
