1. PERSONAL DETAILS:

2. ASSESSMENT:
PW seemed cooperative but could not provide information.
He was engaged in general duties for battalion headquarters and was unfamiliar with the military service.
Information seem unreliable.

3. T/O & E AND STRENGTH OF UNIT:
Composition of 4th Field Army and the 50th Army was unknown.
149th Division was composed of the 447th and two other unknown regiments.
The 447th Regiment was composed of 3 x infantry battalions.
(PW was in battalion headquarters performing general duties and further information on T/O & E was unavailable).

There were no North Korean personnel in the PW’s unit, before or after crossing the YALU River.
Chain of command of PW’s unit is same now as it was prior to crossing the YALU River.
No parts of PW’s unit have been integrated into Korean units.
No known artillery support available to the 447th Regiment.

4. PERSONAL AND UNIT HISTORY:
Conscripted Jan 50 by the CCF at SZCHUWAN SHENG (四川省) and assigned to the present unit.
The 149th Division departed SZCHUWAN SHENG in Jan 50 and arrived at HOPEI SHENG (湖北省) on 30 Mar 50. The 447th Regiment was engaged in farm work here. Disposition of other two regiments was unknown.
447th Regiment departed HOPEI SHENG Sep 50 and arrived at LIAOTUNG SHENG (遼東省) MANCHURIA, o/a 7 Oct 50.
447th Regiment departed LIAOTUNG SHENG o/a 12 Oct 50.
447th Regiment departed ANTUNG o/a 30 Oct 50 and crossed a steel bridge to SINUIJU.
The regiment marched for 24 days after leaving SINUIJU, using secondary and mountain roads before the PW was captured in the vicinity of XD 9997.
PW’s unit was in LIAOTUNG SHENG before departing for KOREA.
PW did not know if the entire unit came to KOREA.
No CCF units were seen.
PW’s unit did not participate in the HAINAN Island invasion.

5. PERSONALITIES:
WANG, Hung Li (王洪禮), Battalion Commander, 3rd Bn, 447th Regt, 149th Div.
No Soviet advisors were seen in the CCF.

6. FOOD AND AMMO SUPPLIES:
4 days supply of food was brought from MANCHURIA by the 447th Regiment. No supplies were seen being transported thereafter. PW heard that food was being received from the North Koreans.
No ammo supply seen in PW’s unit.

7. GENERAL INFORMATION:
PW did not volunteer for Korean service.
No instructions were given to PW to appear as a volunteer if captured.
No amphibious training was undergone by the PW’s unit.
No information on the Iron and Steel Brigade.
No Japanese units were in the CCF.
There were no known Militia or Security units besides the regular troops.
Type of recruiting was unknown in MANCHURIA.
PAY RATE: Pvt - 100,000 (Manchurian Yuan)
No known CCF units have Soviet equipment.
PW’s unit started to move to MANCHURIA in Sep 50.
No known recruiting in MANCHURIA.
No known paratroops or paratroop training in the CCF.
Former CNA equipment and soldiers are integrated into the CCF.
