ATIS INTERROGATION REPORT NO. 2751　26 December 1950

FIELD REPORT (24 Div-LDI-0129)　27 November 1950

PW was very cooperative and of average intelligence. Information obtained considered fairly reliable. PW was a farmer prior to entering the CCF. Recommended for further interrogation.

PW drafted into the CCF at PINGAN (phonetic) Jan 50, and assigned to 50th Army, 149th Div, 47th Regt, 1st Bn, 1st Co, 2nd Plat, 4th Sqd. Received 1 month basic training. Departed PINGAN, and arrived in HOPEI Feb 50 (day unk). Stayed at this location for approx 8 months. Engaged in farming and repairing canal for approx 6 months. The remaining 2 months the 50th Army (148th, 149th, & 150th Divs) participated in maneuvers at SUNCHON, CHINA. After completion of maneuvers returned to PINGAN. Departed PINGAN 12 Oct 50 and arrived ANTUNG 14 Oct 50. 149th Div crossed into North KROEA 15 Oct 50. Date of crossing of 148th and 150th Divs unknown to PW. After arriving in SINUIJU 149th Div headed southeast to unknown destination. After crossing all movements of troops made at night. During daylight hours troops hid in mountains. PW heard from his Co Commander after crossing that 148th and 150th Divs also in North KOREA.

50th Army, 149th Div, 47th Regt, 1st Bn, 1st Co, 2nd Plat, 4th Sqd was redesignated the 57th Unit (Bu), 2nd Bn (Tai Tui), 3rd Co (Chung Tui), 1st “Chi Tui”, 10 “Fun Tui”, 2 “Sho Tui”, 4th Squad (Pan) (五七隊 二大隊 三中隊 一區隊 十分隊 二小隊) prior to crossing into North KOREA 14 Oct 50. 148th Div was redesignated the 1st Bn (Tai Tui) and 150th Div the 3rd Bn (Tai Tui). 50th Army composed of 148th, 149th and 150th Divs. 149th Div composed of 45th, 46th, and 47th Regts. Each Regt composed of 3 Bns. Each Bn composed of 3 Inf Cos and HMG Co. Strength of 50th Army unknown. 149th Div unknown. 47th unknown. Each HMG Co composed of approx 110 men. HMG Co had 6 HMGs. 9 mortars (approx 50mm) in each Bn. 3 mortars to each Inf Co. No other heavy weapons observed in his until.
