Morale and Propaganda:
Morale of unit was low, because food supply was lacking, and well-trained men were scarce.

4. MORALE:
PW (and four others) surrendered, 13 Dec 50, at YONCHON GUN when he was sent on a reconnaissance patrol. Due to the fact that he was forced into the army against his will, PW firmly despised the military life, also since food was scarce, training forceful, and strict, and there was no freedom whatsoever.
While retreating from SEOUL northward, about the mid part of Sep PW saw a UN propaganda leaflet.
There was a map of KOREA on the leaflet, with UN troop ships invading INCHON, It said the UN forces, composed of 8 nations, had completely occupied INCHON (in Korean and English)
PW had no intention of surrendering at that time, since the cultural officer of his unit; reported time and time again that, all NK soldiers surrendering will be shot on the spot by the UN forces. Therefore, PW was more than ever afraid of being captured and had no intention of surrendering.
PW did not hear any talk about leaflets or broadcasts.
