2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was of average intelligence but not very informative. Reliability - fair.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
12 Jul 1950: Inducted into NKA at SEOUL.
1 Aug 1950: Sent to KANGYONG (江景) and attached to 10th RR Security Brigade (3139 Unit), 9th Bn, 4th Co. PW was guarding RR stations and bridges. Unit received orders to retreat to PYONGYANG when the UN offensive started.
2 Oct 1950: PW and approx one platoon of fellow soldiers were incorporated into 10th Div which was located in YANGGU (DT 1017).
25 Nov 1950: 25th Regt invaded CHUNCHON (CS 8892).
2 Dec 1950: 25th Regt withdrew to CHONGPYONG NI (CT 9700).
5 Dec 1959: Surrendered to Security Police.

Unit Organization and Strength: (5 Dec 1950)
10th Div composed of 3 Regts (25th, 27th and 29th) and an Arty Regt. 25th Regt composed of 3 Bna. 3rd Bn composed of 2 Cos.
Strength (5 Dec 1950) - 25th Regt - 900 men, 3rd Bn - 220 men, 8th Co - 150 men.

Equipment:
45 mm AT Gun remained in Regt Arty Regt. All ammo was expended with no more to be found. 3 mortars (model unknown). All soldiers were equipped with Russian rifle with approx 30 rds per rifle.

Unit disposition: (5 Dec 1950)
25th Regt was in the hills around CHONGPYONGNI (CT 9700). 10th Div Hq in YANGGU (DT 1017).

Intentions:
To await reinforcement from CCF forces who were expected to appear shortly.

4. GENERAL INFORMATION:
25th Regt was also known as KUMKANG SAY (IN:Diamond Mountains) (金剛山) Unit.
10th Div was known as PAEKTU SAN (IN:Whitehead Mountain) (白頭山) Unit.
According to the company commander, the CCF was at YANGGU (DT 1017) on 30 Nev 1950, and a great force would soon come to liberate elf of KOREA.
The morale of the officers was high because of this. The EM however were of divided opinion, as many were tired of fighting.
Did you surrender voluntarily? Yes. If so, why? PW did not like what the guerrillas were doing (killing, stealing, etc.)
Did you see any UN leaflets of hear any loud speaker broadcasts? PW picked up a leaflet on 2 Dec 50 while retreating.
Can you describe what they said? PW had a copy on his person. What was your reaction to them? PW surrendered 3 days later because of this leaflet.
Did you hear other soldiers discuss leaflets or broadcasts? Only leaflets.
