ASSESSMENT:
PW often contradicted his statements. Reliability - poor.

CHRONOLOGY:
PW lived near Russian border most of his life.

TRANSPORTATION & COMMUNICATION:
WOODEN BRIDGE  YONG HYON (龍峴) KOREA
Pvt          D/O 1945 - 1950
Location: (See Sketch)
Across TUMEN River on border USSR-KOREA, about 300 m E of the end of the RR line.

Observation:
Five times during the period between 1945 - 1950. The closest point of observation was about 10 m.

Description:
300 m long and 6 m wide; built of wood. The construction was started in Aug 45 and completed by the end of that year.

Remarks:
PW observed Russian soldiers crossing this bridge on 2 Russian trucks in Jun 50. Both ends of the bridge were guarded by soldiers and all material crossing this bridge was inspected by the guards.
PW observed boxes being transported by truck across this bridge in the latter part of Jun 50 and the middle of Jul 50. PW states that when these boxes which were believed to contain ammunition were being transported, they were guarded very closely by NK troops.

RAILROAD  YONG HYON (龍峴) KOREA

Location:
This terminal point of the RR running NE/SW was located about 300 m W of the wooden bridge.

Observation:
From a point about 500 m S of the terminal point of the RR line.

Description:
RR line was running NE/SW, ending about 10 m from the bank of the TUMEN River.

Remarks:
PW did not hear anything in regards to the construction of a RR bridge between SOVIET RUSSIA and KOREA.

TELEPHONE OR ELECTRIC LINE  YONG HYON (龍峴) KOREA
Pvt      D/O July 1950
Location:
This line crossed the river about 2.6 km E (down stream) from the wooden bridge.

Observation:
From a point about 900 m SW of place where the line crosses the TUMEN River.

Remarks:
PW observed no poles in the river and the line just hung across the river. There were countless number of lines crossing the river. PW does not know whether they were telephone lines or electric lines or both.
