UNIT: 7th Div, 2nd Bn, 3rd Co, 3rd Plat, 2nd Sqd
PLACE AND DATE OF CAPTURE: KAPYONG-NI, 20 Nov 50
INTERROGATED BY: Pfc MINAMI

2. ASSESSMENT:
a. Evaluation: PW was cooperative, however, number of troops and locations seems to be unreliable due to his poor memory.
b. Not recommended for further interrogation.
His former unit, 3rd Bn (500-600 men), 102nd Regt, Security Force was scattered at KUMJE-KUN (SK), on or about 1 Sep 50 by order of Bn CO because it was difficult to retreat north in large groups.
On or about 9 Nov 50 PW and 3 other stragglers of above mentioned unit were picked up by 2nd Bn of 7th Div at SOHA-MYON. They received rifles and 4 rounds of ammo each.
On or about 10 Nov 50 2nd Bn (approx 900 men) departed SOHA-MYON. 2 days after departing, PW noticed 2 groups, one group to their front and the other to their rear, marching in the same direction.
On or about 16 Nov 2nd Bn arrived at approx 24 KMs south of HAECHANG (BU8031). PW noticed that the two above mentioned groups were called "KA" and "TA" Unit, because when they had mess formation, each officer in charge of groups reported to a Col (name unk) as "KA" and "TA" unit. The 2nd Bn officer reported as "NA" unit. PW estimated the strength of other units to be approx 900 and 600.
PW observed a 50mm mortar and two-third of group were armed with either Russian made rifle, M-1 rifle or PPsh Tommy guns.
O/a 1500 hrs 16 Nov 50 KA, NA(2nd Bn) and TA units departed and arrived at HOCHANG (BU8031), o/a 1800 hrs 17 Nov 50. O/a 1800 hrs 18 Nov 50, elements of 2nd Bn (strength unk) led by Bn CO departed HOECHANG and arrived at KAPYONG-NI (BU7042) (where PW was captured) on or about 0200 hrs 19 Nov 50.
3rd Co consisted of 72 men led by Sr Lt (name unk) went up a hill approx 1000 meters north of KAPYONG-NI and spend a night there. In the morning they all came down to the village for food.
O/a 1900 hrs 19 Nov 50 only the 3rd Plat, consisting of 20 men, went back the same hill again and took up defensive positions. O/a 2000 hrs they were attacked by ROK after 15 minutes of battle they scattered.
PW and one other were captured by KAPYONG-NI Home Guard, 20 Nov.
PW did not see any CCF troops at anytime.
They ate 3 meals a day but it was insufficient. Meal consisted of millet, corn or rice and soup.
They did not receive any winter clothing, and the cold weather was at times unbearable.
PW heard from an NCO who is a cultural section personnel, that ANJU (YD2988) is occupied by NK troops and they are fighting at PYONGYANG and WONSAN (127 25',-39 10') area.

3. PERSONALITIES:
3rd Plat Ldr: Jr Lt LIM Se Ho (25)

4. MORALE:
Morale of EM was low, because most of them were forced to join the 7th Div when they thought they would be able to go back to their homes. Also due to insufficient food and clothing. However, officers morale seemed high because they still have the thought of defeating the UN Forces.

For the AC of S, G-2:
