2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was cooperative, however, lacked education. This report is considered fairly reliable.

3. CHRONOLOGY:
Born in NAESONG-NI (內城里) KOREA.
1941: Moved to HSINANCHEN (新安鎭) MANCHURIA.
1 Nov 46: Inducted into the CCF and assigned to the Independent 11th Div, 1st Regt, 2nd Bn, 4th Co, 1st Plat, 2nd Sqd.
Nov 46 - Apr 48: In combat against the Chinese Nationalist Army in the HSINANCHEN (新安鎭) MANCHURIA Area.
Nov 48 - Jul 49: Received combat training in CHANGCHUN (長春) MANCHURIA.
Jul 49: Entire Independent 11th Div departed for NANAM (羅南) KOREA.
Jul 49 - Mar 50: Received combat training in NANAM (羅南) KOREA.
Mar 50: Departed for HOERYONG (會寧) KOREA, with 100 men who were transferred to the Democratic Youth Training Group.
Mar 50 - Jun 50: Received combat training.
25 Jun 50: The "Democratic Youth Training Group" was redesignated the 15th Div.

4. FORMER CCF UNIT:
The Former Independent 11th Division.

Company:
Consisted of 4 platoons, approx 117 men and 11 officers. 3 rifle and one heavy machine gun platoon. Each rifle platoon was equipped with 4 light machine guns, Meiji model 38 and model 99 rifles. The heavy machine gun platoon was equipped with 2
heavy machine guns.

Battalion:
Consisted of 5 companies and 4 separate platoons, totaling approx 500 men and 51 officers. 3 rifle companies, 1 heavy machine gun Co and 1 mortar company. However, the mortar company had only 72 men. Zach rifle company was equipped with 12 light machine guns, 2 heavy machine guns, Meiji model 38 and model 99 rifles. The heavy machine guh Co was equipped with 6 heavy machine guns. The mortar Co was equipped with 8 - 60 mm knee mortars. There were also 4 antitank guns in the battalion.
The 4 separate platoons were the Engineer, Supply, Scout, and Communications. Each of these platoons consisted of approx 15 men.

Regiment:
Consisted of 3 battalions, all infantry. Each battalion contained its own artillery, supply, machine gun and communication units.

Division:
Consisted of 4 regiments, 3 Infantry and one Artillery. Most of the personnel were Korean.
No further information on breakdown.

The entire Independent 11th Div was transferred to KOREA.

PAY OF PERSONNEL:
Pvt received 100 Yuan (Chinese money) per month.
Capt received 10,000 Yuan per month.
Sqd Ldr received 150 yuan per month.
These were the pay scales during 1947.

SOVIET ADVISORS:
While PW was training in NANAM (羅南) KOREA, there was a 2 star Russian Officer with each regiment. PW also observed a Russian Officer at HOERYONG (會寧) KOREA.

TANK UNITS IN CCF:
PW observed a Tank Unit in CHANGCHUN (長春) MANCHURIA in 1948, which had about 12 T-34 type tanks. This was a Chinese Unit. Unit designation and organization unknown.

RATIONS AND CLOTHING:
PW received 2 sets of summer and one set of winter uniforms, one pair of leather boots and one pair of canvas shoes.
Food was fairly good. Each day the men usually received some pork or beef and whole rice. A ration of bean cake was issued every 5 days.
