1. PERSONAL DETAILS:
NAME: SONG Chong Sun (成鐘淳) (성종순)

DATE & PLACE OF CAPTURE: 191400 K Oct 50, captured at CHASAN (8 Km N SAINJANG on PYONGYANG - SUNCHON RR).

2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was cooperative and intelligent. No detailed info as PW had no military background.

3. T/O & E AND STRENGTH OF: Naval Hq (as of 11 Oct 50).
Naval Hq (code No. 546) was composed of the Chief of Staff, Operations, Finance, Supply Administration, Medical, Cultural, Intelligence and Military Sections. Between Aug 50 and Sep 50, approx 1,000 men were conscripted into the Naval Hq. Most of these conscripts were men who were familiar with administration of private enterprises.

4. LOCATION & ACTIVITIES OF UNITS:
PW’s Own Unit:
Naval Hq was located about 4 km SW of P’YONGYANG toward CHINNAMP’O. 11 Oct 50 the entire Naval Hq (40 men) began retreating toward KANGGYE on foot. Present location unknown.

5. PERSONAL & UNIT HISTORY:
PW conscripted 26 Sep 50 at HAEJU and was assigned to the Naval Construction Section at the Naval Hq near P’YONGYANG.
Mission of the section was to construct defenses on the coast, however, PW stated that they performed no duties prior to the retreat on 11 Oct 50.

6. PERSONALITIES:
HAN Il Bu, Vice Admiral, Naval Chief of Staff and N.K. Peoples Government, Vice Prime Minister.

7. REPLACEMENTS:
PW had heard in June that replacements would be coming from the CCF 8th Route Army.

8. MORALE:
Morale among the men And officers in the Naval Hq was low due to constant air and Artillery attacks and the lack of weapons And food.
PW believes that the Naval Hq staff still has the will to fight as they are expecting to receive help from RUSSIA or CHINA.
