1. PERSONAL DETAILS:

2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was very cooperative; limited information offered seems reliable, Not recommended for further interrogation.

3. T/O & E AND STRENGTH OF:
4th Field Army, 38th Army. 114th Div, 342nd Regt, 2nd Bn, 2nd Co, 2nd Plat, 4th Sqd. Code name of Regiment and subordinate units was: 9th Branch unit, 2nd Sub-unit, 2nd Heavy Weapon Plat: 4th Sqd. (9支隊 2分隊機小隊 2排 4班)
4th Field Army: Composition unknown
38th Army: 3 Infantry Divisions
114th Division: 3 Infantry Regiments
342nd Regiment: 3 Infantry Battalions
2nd Battalion: 3 Infantry Companies and Hvy Weapon. Company
Infantry Company: 3 Infantry Platoons
Infantry Platoon: 3 Infantry Squads
HMG and Mortar Platoon: 3 Squads each
Heavy Weapons Company: 3 HMG platoons and Mortal Platoon
There were no North Korean troops in the PW’s unit before crossing the YALU River; however, after two days in KOREA, the PW saw one (1) Korean civilian interpreter in each Company.
PW’s unit was intact and under the same chain of command now as it was prior to crossing the YALU River. Parts of PW’s unit have not integrated into Korean units.
The PW has not seen any artillery, vehicles and tanks since crossing the YALU River.

4. LOCATION AND ACTIVITIES OF UNITS: (As of 14 Nov 50)
The mission of PW's unit was unknown.
Before the PW was captured, his Platoon was 8 km south of the 2nd Company on a hill; the Company was 4 km south of the 2nd Battalion. Exact location of 2nd Battalion was unknown. Location of CP’s and Headquarters: negative.
PW did not know what other CCF units came to KOREA.
He stated that, while traveling through KOREA, his unit did not construct any pill boxes or permanent defense positions.

5. PERSONAL AND UNIT HISTORY:
Conscripted into the NCA, SENRO (character unknorm) Army, 22nd Division at SHANGHAI in Aug 45. Received 8 months of close order drill and physical training at SHANGHAI.
500 troops left SHANGHAI by plane on Jun 43 and arrived at KAI-YUAN (開原) in Jun 43. An unknown number of 22nd Division soldiers, left KAI-YUAN in May 49 by plane and arrived at TIENTSIN (天津) in May 49. 400 troops left TIENTSIN in Jul 49 by train and arrived at KAI-YUAN in Aug 49. One battalion left KAI-YUAN by truck in Aug 49 for HSIN-MIN HSIEN (新民縣) to fight the CCF. They arrived at HSIN-MIN HSIEN in Aug 49. On 25 Sep 49, 100 NCA troops were caught by unknown CCF troops. On 15 Oct 49, these PsW were taken to SHEN-YANG (瀋陽). and were told that they would be placed into the 38th Army. At SHENYANG the PW performed K.P. duties, unit unknown.
13 Feb 50, the PW was placed into the 38th Army, 114th Div, 342nd Regt, 2nd Bn, 2nd Company at SHENYANG. He went through 2 months of close order drill at SHENYANG.
15 Oct 50, the 2nd Battalion left SHEN-YANG by foot and arrived at TUNG-YUAN-PU (通遠堡) on 17 Oct 50. The Battalion left TUNG YUAN-PU 17 Oat 50 by train and arrived at ANTUNG on 20 Oct 50.
The PW saw the 2nd Battalion cross the steel bridge over the YALU River. Places travelled after crossing the YALU River were unknown.
PW stated that he remembered the name of his piace of capture because a farmer had told him where he was.
PW’s unit did not participate in the HAINAN Island invasion.

6. FOOD AND AMMO SUPPLIES:
Soldiers brought 10 days ration when they crossed the YALU River.
Source of food and ammo supplies unknown.

7, MORALE:
The morale in PW’s Company was low because the ROK artillery shelling was accurate and planes constantly straffed them,

8. SIGNAL COMMUNICATION:
Communication between Regiment to Battalion was by telephone; communication between Battalion and Company was by messengers.

9. GENERAL INFORMATION:
PW was not a volunteer for Korean Services, nor was his unit a volunteer unit.
No instruction have been given to CCF soldiers to appear to be volunteers if captured.
PW received 50,000 Yuan per month; wages of others unknown.
PW did not know of any CCF units with Soviet equipment.
PW did not receive any paratroop training nor did he see or hear of any paratroop units in CCF.
Propaganda officers read newspapers and explained the contents to the troops.
