1. PERSONAL DETAILS:

PW did not see these guns after crossing the YALU River.
PW did not see any Korean personnel or interpreters in his unit either before or after crossing the YALU River.
PW’s unit is intact and under the same chain of command now as it was prior to crossing the YALU River.

4. LOCATION AND ACTIVITIES OF UNITS: (As of 14 Nov 50)
PW did not know the reason for the CCF’s entry into KOREA.
PW did not know what other CCF units came to KOREA.

PW's company was re treating to an unknown area when he was captured by ROK troops.

5. PERSONAL AND UNIT HISTORY:
Conscripted into the NCA, Security Guard Regiment at WEN SHAN HSIEN (文山縣) on 16 Aug 49. Trained at close order drill for one month at WEN SHAN HSIEN.
In Jan 50, 400 NGA Security Guard troops were captured by the CCF Liberation Army at WEN SHAN HSIEN. The captured troops were immediately sent to HUNAN, TSUZAN SHIEN (湖南省) by foot. They were placed into the 38th Army, 114th Division, 40th Regiment, 1st Battalion, 2nd Company. PW received approximately 3 months of close order drill at HUNAN, TSUZAN SHIEN. The 40th Regiment left HUNAN, TSUZAN SHEIN by train and arrived at HANKOU (漢口) in Jun 50. The 40th Regiment left HANKOU in Jul 50 by train, and arrrived at a small Railroad Station (definite location unknown) at CHIN HSIEN (鎭縣). They rested for 6 days here.
In Jul 50, the 40th Regiment left CHIN HSIEN RR Station by train and arrived at KAIYUAN (開原) in Jul 50. Here the 40th Regiment underwent approximately 3 months of basic infantry training. 40th Regiment left KAIYUAN in Oct 50 by train and arrived at CHI-AN (輯安) in Oct 50. After resting for a day at CHI-AN, the PW witnessed his 2nd Company cross the YALU River the next day, d/u Oct 50, and pass the MANPOJIN (滿浦鎭) Railroad Station and finally arrived at an unknown mountain. The PW heard from his Company commander that the 40th Regiment crossed the YALU River. PW did not know where he travelled after passing MANPOJIN. PW did not see any other CCF units on his trip to KOREA. PW’s Unit did not participate in the HAINAN Island invasion.

6. MORALE:
The morale in PW's Company was low because they lacked food, vehicles and aircraft.

7. FOOD AND AMMO SUPPLIES:
Soldiers brought 3 days ration with them when crossing the YALU River, d/u Oct 50. Source of supplies and ammo: negative.

8. SIGNAL COMMUNICATION:
PW did not see any telephones nor any other signal· devices. All communication was by messengers.

9. GENERAL INFORMATION:
PW and his unit were not volunteers for KOREAN service. No instructions had been given to CCF soldiers to appear to be volunteers if captured. PW’s unit did not undergo amphibious training. PW did not know of the Iron & Steel Brigade. There were no Japanese units in the CCF. PW did not know if the Chinese Communists have Militia 8l Public Security units in addition to their regular troops.
PW received 10,000 Yuan per month; wages of other ranks were unknown.
No paratroop training or paratroops were believed to be in the CCF.
Propaganda officers taught soldiers to write Chinese characters.
