2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was cooperative and alert. PW is familiar with the military. service and was precise in answering questions. Information seems. reliable

3. T/O & E AND STRENGTH:
38th Army was composed of the 112th, 113th and the 114th Rifle Divs.
112th Inf Div was composed of the 334th, 335th and the 336th Inf Regts.
335th Inf Regt was composed of 3 rifle Bns, Guard Bn, Supply Co, Medical Co, and Signal Platoon.
Each Inf Bn was composed of 3 rifle companies, HMG Co, a Medical Section and a Signal section (squads).
Each Inf company was composed of 3 rifle and artillery platoons.

When the PW's unit embarked on a train in SINUIJU, 3 North Korean soldiers were assigned to the 2nd Battalion. The PW's company commander explained to the men that these man would be working with the 2nd Battalion while in KOREA. It was believed that these North Koreans were to serve as liaison personnel. All three wore North Korean Winter uniforms,
Information as to the source of these North Koreans was unavailable.
The PW's unit is under the same chain of command as it was prior to crossing the YALU River.
PW's unit has not been integrated into Korean units.

4. LOCATION AND ACTIVITIES OF UNITS:
The 2nd Bn was located at approx 2 km West of KAECH’ON, engaging UN forces in that area, o/a 6 Nov 50. After battling for four (4) days, the battalion retreated toward the North on 10 Nov 50. No other NK units were seen in that area.

5. PERSONAL AND UNIT HISTORY:
PW was conscripted on 5 Jan 49 at HUBEH SHENG (湖北省) KUNG-AN HSIEN (公安縣). He underwent 3 month, 3rd infantry training with the 79th Army, 194th Division, 58th Regiment, 3rd Bn, 7th Co, 1st Plat, 3rd Sqd of the Chinese Nationalist Army.
He was captured at I-CHANG HSIEN, HUPEP SHENG (宜昌縣 湖北省), on 10 Aug 49 and assigned to the present unit.
112th Division departed I-CHANG HSIEN in Aug 49 and arrived at HUNAN SHENG (湖南省) on 10 Sep 49.
The unit departed HUNAN SHENG o/a 10 Sep 49 and arrived at CHANG-TEH HSIEN (常德縣) o/a 10 Oct 49.
They departed CHANG-TEH HSIEN and arrived at TAO YUAN HSIEN (桃源縣) two days later, o/a 12 Oct 49.
PW remained at TAO YUAN HSIEN for one month, performing guard duties in that area.
112th Div departed from TAO YUAN HSIEN o/a 13 Nov 49 and arrived at SHA-SHIH HSIEN (少市縣) o/a 15 Dec 49.
They left SHA-SHIH HSIEN o/a 22 Dec 49 and arrived at KWANGSI SHENG (廣西省) LIU-CHOU HSIEN (柳州縣) of 10 Jan 50.
Unit departed LIU-CHOU HSIEN o/a 11 Jan 50 and arrived at HO-CHIH HSIEN (河池縣) o/a 30 Jan 50.
They left HO-CHIH HSIEN o/a 2 Feb 50 and arrived at HONAN SHENG (河南城), SUI-PING HSIEN (遂平縣) o/a 10 Feb 50 and remained there for a period of time until o/a 10 Aug 50.
Unit departed for SHEN-YANG (瀋陽) and arrived at FENG-HUANG SHAN (鳳凰山) o/a 17 Aug 50.
Leaving FENG-HUANG SHAN o/a 17 Sep 50, they arrived at SHENYANG (瀋陽), HSIN-TAI-TZU (新台子) o/a 19 Sep 50.
Entire 112th Division departed HSIN-TAI-TZU o/a 22 Oct 50 by train and arrived at ANTUNG (安東) on 24 Oct 50. The 335th Regt immediately marched toward the YALU River. Upon arrival there, they crossed a steel bridge over the YALU at 252000 Oct 50, and arrived at SINUIJU on the same night.
335th Regt with another regiment, believed to be of the 112th Div, boarded a train in SINUIJU at 252200 Oct 50 and arrived at an unknown RR station on 260500 Oct 50.
2nd Bn marched separately, and 11 days later, they reached the KAECHON area. There they engaged UN troops for four (4) days until the PW was captured at 091500 1 Nov 50. Disposition and activities of units thereafter was unknown.
PW does not know if the entire 112th Division entered KOREA.
112th Div was stationed at HSIN-TAI-TZU prior to receiving orders to move to ANTUNG.
PW’s unit did not participate in the invasion of HAINAN Island.

6. FOOD AND AMMUNITION SUPPLIES:
When the troops departed from HSIN-TAI-TZU, each man carried four (4) day's food ration with him.
Troops received food from the Supply Company. The source of supplies for the company was unknown.
No ammunition was received by the troops after their initial issue of 90 rounds per, d/u. Source and means of supplies were unknown.

7. SIGNAL COMMUNICATIONS:
Communication between companies was conducted through telephones.
Lower echelons employed messengers (runners).

8. MORALE:
PW could not say whether the morale was high or low in his unit that the CCF troops acted only upon orders.

9. GENERAL INFORMATION:
PW or his unit did not volunteer for Korean service.
No instructions were given to CCF soldiers to appear as volunteers if captured.
No amphibious training was undergone by PW’s unit.
Approximately 20 Japanese soldiers are attached to the 335th Regt Hq as medical corpsmen. All of them are known to speak Chinese fluently.
PW claimed that there are no Public Security units in KOREA.
Th ere are such units in MANCHURIA. No details were available on this point.
The PW received 40,000 yuan per month. A Platoon Leader (Rank Unk) received 180,000 yuan monthly. Other pay grades were unknown.
No units were known to be equipped with Soviet equipment.
PW's unit began moving to MANCHURIA o/a 2 Feb 50. Information on other units was unavailable.
Information on recruiting in MANCHURIA was unavailable.
Former Nationalist captured equipment and troops are integrated into CCF units.
The Political Officer usually gave lectures on the poverty of KOREA and of the peoples' plight in not owning their own land. The CCF's objective is to free KOREA and to establish a land reform program. This was often repeated by the political officers.
