2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was very cooperative. Answers to queries were complete and rapid. The PW seemed very intelligent and familiar with military activities. Information is considered to be very reliable.

3. T/O & E AND STRENGTH OF: 25th Western Coast Inf Brigade: (as of 22 Oct 50).
Strength of 25th Brigade: 6,000
25th Western Coast Inf Brigade (code no. 6543) was composed of 3 Inf Bns, Signal Bn, Arty Bn (76mm & 122mm), Engineer Bn, 45mm AT Gun Bn, Medical Bn, Training Bn, Recon Co, Transportation Co, Guard Plat and AA Machine Gun Plat.
Each Inf Bn was composed of 3 Inf Companies, HMG Co, and 82mm Mortar Co.
Each Inf Co was composed of 3 Inf Platoons and 1 HMG Platoon.
The HMG Co was composed of 3 HMG Platoons.
The 82mm Mortar Co was composed of 3 x 82mm Mortar Platoons.
The Signal Bn was composed of a Telephone Co, Wireless Co and a Training Company.
The Engineer Bn was composed of 3 Engineer Companies.
The 45nm AT Gun Bn was composed of 3 x 45mm. AT Gun Companies and 1 x 12.5mm Anti-tank Gun Company.
Each 45mm AT Gun Co was composed of 2 x 45mm AT Gun Platoons and Ammo Supply Platoon.
The Medical Bn was composed of 2 Medical Companies.
The Training Bn was composed of 2 Inf Companies, HUG Co and 82mm Mortar Co.
The Arty Bn was composed of 2 x 76mm Arty Companies and 1 x 122nm Artillery Company.
The Recon Co was composed of 3 Recon Platoons.
The Transportation Co was composed of 3 Transportation Platoons.

PW claw that all the heavy equipment was abandoned. Approx 80% of the small arms have been retained by this unit, as of 22 Oct 50.

4. LOCATION & ACTIVITIES OF UNITS AND UNIT HISTORY:
The 25th Western Coast Inf Brigade was activated with approx 700 officers and 5,300 conscripts at CHINNAMP’O on 20 Jul 50 to defend the Western Coast. After 20 days of basic infantry training, the unit prepared defensive positions at CHINNAMP’O, remaining here until 18 Oct 50.
On 18 Oct 50, the 25th Brigade was ordered to retreat to PEKCHON and remain there until 25 Oct 50.
The 25th Brigade left CHINNAMP’O on 18 Oct 50 by foot, passing PYONGYANG and SUNAN, and arrived at YONGYU on 20 Oct 50, enroute to PEKCHON.
At YONGYU the PW was wounded by strafing UN planes.
The 25th Brigade left YONGYU for SUNCHON on 21 Oct 50.
At OJUNG-NI, which lies between YONGYU and SUNCHON, they abandoned all their heavy weapons and vehicles, and they undertook a mountain route, because they were afraid to fight with the US airborne.
PW deserted his unit at OJUNG-NI on 22 Oct 50 because he was unable to follow his unit.
PW does not know of the activities of his unit thereafter.
PW joined the NKA 2nd Division, Training Bn, as a Capt at NANAM in Sep 46.
PW served with the 2nd Div until Nov 48 and was transferred to the 4th Brigade.
PW was assigned to the 25th Brigade upon activation, 20 Jul 50.
Remark: PW had 8 months of Japanese military service in World War II.
